Default I need a part number. Can someone help?

I went to install my new K&N replacement filter on my '06 IMPSS and noticed that the previous owner broke off one of the two little receptacles on the airbox that the lid tabs slip into. These are the tabs opposite the clasps on the bottom of the airbox itself. Without it I'm not able to get a good seal. Does anyone have the part number for the box, not the lid, just the box?

Yes, the big box part that hold the tube everyone is removing. One of those lower tabs is missing. I hope that isn't the price they're showing or I'll definitely go the K&N FIPK route. I was hoping to just keep it stock looking and only change the filter...

I have a friend at a body shop check into it for me. GM part 15871618 but is listed as being 8 pieces so I think being the whole assembly is why it costs so much. He's checking salvage yards for me now.

Sign up at NAIOA.com and PM a guy named "ZSPOT." If you have to go with a new part, he can usually get you a deal as good as any friend in the business. That's where i buy all my GMPP and OEM GM stuff from. Got my $65 motor mount for $42 shipped.

Heck, tell me what you find out and i'd consider trading you my stock bottom box for yours and some money. I have no intention of ever going back to stock, unless it needs to go in for intake/combustion/tranny warranty work, and that would only be for the duration of the repair, really.

I like the offer... but I have an even better idea. How about an even trade and I'll cover all the shipping costs. You get the satisfaction of helping out a fellow Impala SS guy and I'll think you're really cool. A win win situation.

His perfectly fine part for your busted one? How's that an even trade?

Come on dude, he didn't say he wanted a fortune for it, just some money. Buff's a great guy and he's not going to rip you off. He is trying to help you out. From my quick research, even if you can get a hold of just that part of the airbox you need, you're probably looking at $75 - $100. Make him a reasonable offer, I'm sure he'll give you a fair deal.

Also, you can't go to the dealer you got the car from (if you got it from a dealer) and get them to get you a new part? It's not your fault they didn't catch it when they bought it.

Good luck.

A guys gotta finance his habit somehow ...

I've been keeping the Z's stock "SS" exhaust in my garage figuring someone with a V6 or Z28 would want to buy it eventually. Maybe someday it will find a home.
