traction on/off issues..

Default traction on/off issues..

I wanted to do a nice smoky burnout yesterday, so i turned off the tracion and let her have it.. but the traction still worked. the dash said it was off, but it wasn't. did this 2 times and still never turned it off. this isn't the 1st time it's done this. why??? help.!!

The abuse mode may kick in. I've done the same thing and if it isn't pretty flat or the tires arn't pointing straight, it feels like someone hit the brakes.

just feels like traction to me. surge of gas, once the tires break free the throttle blurps off. then surge of gas again, once the tires break free the throttle blurps off again.. over and over again.

it's the abuse mode that kicks in to safe the half-shafts...

tune it out. Its called torque management. All fwd cars with any sort of small nuts have it, no matter if the tcs is on or off.

Small nuts?

This car has .4 of a liter less displacement and you say small nuts?

Well anyway, the trasaxle has a mode that stops it from ripping itself apart. You engaged that system by trying to do a burnout and placing a large load (power wise) on the transaxle.

I don't do burnouts that much (tires cost too much $) but hold the brake in (car in N) Rev it up, (put in D) and floor it.

He said with any, meaning any engine with power capable of breaking stuff. You mention dropping it into drive from a high rev neutral. I hope you don’t think for a minute that won't do as much or more damage?

You don't wont to put it in drive with rpms being higher than fast idle or you will be breaking something and the TM will still kick in.You just need a tuner to fix it.The TC applies the breaks to the drive wheels lightly to help,The TM cuts engine power.And I never understood with the way TM works by cutting power and then throwing it all back? That I think would risk breaking something.It should just cut power to 50% then ease back in.

Ive heard there is another thing called differential score protection that is able to do the same thing. My Impala shuts down with the traction control off when you try to nail it around a corner.

I'm not talking about regular TM and yes I know it applies braking, when you add in the fuel shutdown it has a completly different feel. I should have said jamming on the brakes to be clearer. Give it a try and you will see what I'm talking about. If you have your Diablo tune in, put it back to stock as they remove some TM, turn off TC on the dash, nail it from a stop while turning the wheels hard to one side, and tell me what you think it feels like.when it shuts the fuel off.
