Default what rim would you do???

Lets say you own a Black 06 Impala SS with dark tinted window and a growling exhaust, but you want different rims and a mean *** tire that bites hard when you on the gas, and I mean on the gas chewing up that four letter word, F...O...R...D! Hurts just to spell it.What would YOU do. what kind of rim, what kind of tire.

How wide a rim can we go, what would be the most you would spend on tires.

What would you do????

Someone awnswered...Yeah!!!!

That looks awsome. I have looked at those, but the wife and I are arguing on all Chrome or Black center with the chrome ring like you have shown here. I will have to invest in some BEAR brakes then!!!!!

Those tires I heard are awsome, and they have a KDWS for winter. It will be betweeen those tires and Yokohamas I think, maybe or something. Heck, I dont know.

how much performanc e will I loose going from a 18" wheel to 19 or 20's, can I go with a 8.5" wide rim and what off set

what??!! who drives the car?? he/she who drives the car daily gets to make those decisions...

I went through that with my wife once... ONCE....

when we had gotten a minivan, I wanted the nice sporty redish/marooon, and she wanted the silver... so we got the silver, then I was the one who got stuck driving it all the time, cuz she didn't like it cuz it was too big... (extended Warner Bros. Venture)... never again... I'm driving it, I choose - I'm the one who's gonna be seen in it.

case closed...

So, after a few years I sold it and got MY Monte... she's never even sat in the driver's seat... the only way I let her in there is on the passenger side...

EDIT: It's funny, when I first got the car, my mother-in-law saw it and said "You got a 2 door??!!" (we have 2 kids - 8 and 10)... I said "Yeah, why? I won't ever be sitting in the back!"

She's great though, get to use her GM Employee discount...

oh well, I tried...

if she's drivin' it, she's gotta like the way it looks too... so she gets to pick...

or...

you trade cars, then it's yours to pick

what we did was: "you pick out the car you want, and I'll pick out the car I want"... so she got a new 2006 Equinox at the same time, with the options and stuff she wanted, and I got mine with the stuff I wanted. I tell ya what, I CAN'T STAND that electronic steering on that Equinox... anyway, sorry - not trying to hijack the thread...

I would think the performance loss would be minimal, but of course I'm going to think that.

Yes, you can go with an 8.5" width. Your offset will have to be between +35 and +45, be aware that the less of an offset you get, the greater chances there are you may have to roll your fenders. My offset was +40 and I had to roll my rear fenders, not all have had to though.

I went to a tire specialist today and we looked, researched and called some folks.

I am going with some sort of tire, He suggest (Perrellis??)sp) 255-45-18 with a +35 mm offset, yes, I 'm staying with 18's. Maybe a BFG G-Force KDW 2. He also suggested a tire called "Nitto"? or a Kumo. I like the look and ratings on the Goodyear tires - Eagle F1 GS-D3 but short tread life.

I love the rims BuffaloSS, but can't decide like the one above or all chrome.

What do you mean "Roll the Fenders" Bending them??? What do I have to do so I don't have to roll them.

I love my wife guys, but damn it, I want a good looking car thats fast a lightning.

Don't get a wheel with a +35 offset.

Like I said, I have a 255 tire with a +40 wheel, and I had to roll my rear fenders b/c the tire would rub them when going over good size bumps. If you're only going w/a +35 wheel, you may have the same problem, since your wheel will "stick out" more than mine. Then again you may not. I know one other Impala owner who didn't get any rubbing w/a 255 tire. I don't know what his offset was though? Also, FWIW for every 50 times my driver side fender would rub, my passenger side would only rub once, so maybe my fenders were abnormal?

You can find out more about rolling fenders at rollyourfender dot com. That's where I rented mine. If you take your time, it's VERY easy to do.

Well, the wife likes the Black on Chrome or Polished aluminum lip, so i'm good there. She's planning them as a Christmas gift, but i'm aiming at my birthday (June). She was also thinking 18s, and my mind was on 20s.

Unfortunately, i just looked at my stock tires in the basement and i realized i don't have much left, tread-wise, on them...so i'll need to decide what i'm doing (size wise) soon. They SHOULD get me through the summer, and i have my winters that will get me though the fall & winter should i need to wait that long...

I'm not going to spend $600 on new 18" tires if i know i'm gonna go 20s in a few months...but if i have to buy new tires sooner than expected, i will probably settle for 18s and say the decision was "performance based" LOL

Those are all nice, but I'm more partials to HRE's, iForged, Kinesis, and CCW wheels...a little more performance oriented if you have money to spend.

As for tires, BFGoodrich KDW 2's are a great choice, but the Pirelli's ride really hard/noisily, my dad has them on his STS 20x8.5 in front and 20x9.5 out back (and I would not want a set).

Too much wheel there...to thick...thanks though. I like the zinetti's you chose above...they look pricy, too.

It's funny. I've been on these forums (NAIOA, NewImpala and LS1tech, amongst other ls4-related places) for about a year and a half and can gauge how my taste in wheels has changed. I'll have to dig up my other 'chops for you, b/c about 6 months ago, i would have loved those ones you threw out there LOL, and now i really don't like them.

My tastes have changed as well. In the immortal words of Stevie Ray Vaughn, "The nicer the nice, the higher the price..."
