Oil What oil are you guys using? Im pretty sure im going to go synthetic was thinkin royal purple. the dealership was a little hesitant when i said that and tried to talk me into mobile 1. I have used royal purple in my other cars and have been very happy with the results. Any suggestions?

Ive tried Redline, Mobil 1, and Royal Purple and the redline synthetic in a car that had a lot of valvetrain noise and was using a little oil and the Redline made reduced it from 1-2 quarts every 3k to less than a half a quart and made the valvetrain noise almost go away, the mobil 1(before the current supersyn formulation which was supposed to be pretty crappy) and the Royal Purple made it noiser and used more oil than it did with regular Valvoline dino oil. If you are looking for the best oil in my opinion it would be the Redline, I have used the newer Mobil 1 in my past 3 vehicles, even though Ive had to go to a 10w30 to try and help with a cold start knock (it actually helped quieten it down a little).

Well looks like im gonna go with mobil 1. I have a bit of a valve tap sometimes so i hope it will quiet it down and my deal wont scream at me about using royal purple.

Usually occurs when you start the motor cold. . . you hear a click or tap noise coming from the top of the motor. It is pretty consistent as well until oil gets spread around nicely.
I have a heated garage as well . . . .nothing having to do with that, i say engine cold not ambient air. Engine cold implies that you have been sitting a while and the oil has settled.
