Default NEW MC SS on Sat.

Just got a MC SS on Sat and I just thought I would post. Really nice cars glad I didn't settle for the cobalt SS SC. Went to the local racetrack that night but didn't run it wanted to get it broke in first. So it looks like I should expect low 14's out of it? 2 rants the front wheel drive sucks for the torque steer and the cupholders blow. Wont quite keep up with my goat but it is still fun to drive. I will be lurking and checking on some mods. Just thought I would check in.

Do a search for flipping the front motor mount, it helps a lot with the torque steer.

yeah, I did the motor mount too... also turn off the traction control, that gets rid of a lot of the torque steer...

Not sure if it applies to the MC, but the Imp has a newly designed cupholder replacement that is about an inch deeper than the '06 models. Again, don't know if yours are different.

Congrats on the purchase!

Congrats on your purchase, I think my MCSS is in the top 5 cars I've owned. Post a pic when you can.

Torque steer gets a little getting used to, but after 24K I don't even notice it. The important thing to remember about these cars is you can drive them 365 days a year

Quarter mile is driver dependant, guys that race often are pulling mid - high 13's out of them. The car has a few mods available, but nothing like the F-Bodys.

IMO the cupholders are great ... especially compared to the F-Body's "in the line of the shifter" main, but I only use them for 20 oz Mountain Dew / water bottles or 22 oz fast food cups.

Thanks all. I do really like the car. I will try to post some pics when the windows get tinted next weekend. Its a black MC. I now have over 1100hp in the garage of GM power. I just have to keep the wife away from it so I can get some more seat time in it. The cupholder in the MC must be different than the Impy. It holds a 20oz fine in the front but the one directly behind it I am not sure what size that is for. But a quick brake check and you will spill it all over the place. I did notice the TC did help alot for the torque steer. Thanks for the info.

your welcome for the TC advice...

as for the cup holders, it doesn't matter to me, no one is allowed to eat or drink in my car anyway

Eddie ... you and your Imp

Yeah, the back cupholder - had let someone of the female gender put a starbucks foofee in the cupholder ... emergency stop - BAMM ... all over the place.

Maybe the big one is for a clear 28oz slurpee???

Default The verdict is in ...

Did some independant research on the cupholders, here is what I found:

The front holds a 20 oz Mountain Dew (or equiv.) bottle, or a "medium" 22 oz Culver's / Taco Bell paper cup:

The rearward cupholder holds the MASSIVE 40oz Super Slurpee ("SS" of course):

Note the gray / brown matter* in the shifter gate, that is residual from the Starbucks.

(* Not visible by the naked eye, but 8 megapixels lights it up.)

Yah, Impala cupholders are definately way better. You can see it in the middle there. There is an adjustable latch which you can adjust to handle different sized bottles. I can get anything up to a 32 oz powergade/gatorage bottle in there.

Eddie - is that a Passport 8500?

So the last time I worked on the W-Body platform, most of the interior components were shared between the 2 and 4 door siblings.

You guys keep bashing the Imp seats, while I think this MCSS is very comfortable. Then Eddie posts an interior pick of a completely different console with side by side cupholders and completely different seats.

Here's my interior - note the larger side bolstering:

Guess the side airbags add a little:

Couldn't get an outside, open door pic cause it's dark now and I couldn't get the door all the way open in the garage.
