he said it should be fine, I thought that, but, well, I guess I'll find out, I have only done this twice in 1 year on 2 tanks of gas. Its not my toy.

Some race fuels are harmful to some components on our cars but a little wont hurt I guess. And the booster I used took me to 94.6 16points for $7.50 not as afective as race fuel mixed in but $10 a gallon for 104 octane race fuel is a bit much, well maybe when I go to the 1/4.

I know all of that. I just don't see you feeling the difference between 93 and 94. Maybe you can, who knows? I just have a hard time believing it.

not sure... haven't been there yet to check it out...

I just used the "locator" on that Sunoco site to see where it was sold and where I could get it. There's a place about 20 minutes from me that has it, so I'll be heading there towards the end of the week (when my current tank runs down) and I'll letcha know how much it is.

Us Monte's only have a 17 gallon tank, and I figured it out to be 3 gallons of 100 octane + 14 gallons of 93 octane will give me 94.24 octane. If I do 5 gallons of 100, + 12 gallons of 93, that'll give me 95 octane.

But, for an 18 gallon tank, you would use 4 gallons of race gas + 14 gallons of 93 octane, and that'll give ya 94.5 octane.

Around here, cam 2 is sold at some Speedway gas stations, it's rated at 110 octane. I don't think it's quite the same as the Sunoco. All this talk of octane boosting has made me want to try some. I don't now of any Sunoco's around here that carry 260 gt.

And by the way the 110 octane cam 2 around here is $5.40/gal. If this helps my car, it may be a practical common occurence for me.

There is a tiny country store / gas station that has Cam 2 within about 5 miles of the house. I searched on Cam 2 and I'm finding that it's actually made by Sunoco and sold at places where contracts prevent Sunoco branded fuel from being marketed. The closest Sunoco brand is about 80 miles.

Unleaded was listed at 100 and 104 vs leaded 110, 114 aqnd 116 if I recall correctly. I thought the lead is what killed the cats not some other additive.

yeah, you don't want to use the leaded...

CAM2 is also the Sunoco... here's a blurb from the Sunoco site...

"Sunoco 260 GT 100 Unleaded is available at selected locations throughout the U.S. In certain areas, Sunoco 260 GT 100 Unleaded is available under the CAM2 GT 100 label."

Around here in Toledo Ohio, there are a lot of Sunoco's and Speedways both. None of the Sunoco's carry the 100 octane 260 gt though. Two of the Speedways carry the cam 2 110 octane. On the Sunoco website posted above, some speedways in other parts of Ohio carry the 260 gt stuff. Makes me wonder how closely related the two stations are. Now I don't know that much about the cam 2 110 octane, it may be leaded. Lead may be bad for your converter, but leaded gas is basically good for an engine, bad for environment. Although I don't know if leaded gas would bad for the injectors or not either. My car is under warr, and at $5.40/gal I'm goiing to try it. Maybe 2 gallons/tank to start with.

leaded gas will kill your converter and O2 sensors....

I saw that but none of those are near Toledo Oh. Looks like Cleveland, Columbus and further south mostly. At least a couple hours away, Cleveland maybe an hour and a half.

I've heard that about the o2 sensors, but I know people who have run race gas with pre cat. conv o2 sensors and it didn't ruin them. I'm not worried about my cat conv. It's not on the car.

on the log I did last week (before adding the booster), here's what I have:

did a WOT run for 10 seconds - 100% commanded throttle position

started out at 23.5* spark/timing, with the ambient air temp being 87.8 and the intake air temp being 116.

at the end of the run, the highest spark/timing I achieve is 26.5*, with the ambient air temp still at 87.8, and the intake air temp down to 109.

again, these numbers are from when I'm at 100% throttle position.... the spark/timing is less before I get up to there... from about 60% throttle, it starts at 21.5* and builds up to the 23.5* at 100% throttle.

Before the octane booster, the highest spark/timing I have EVER seen is 27* at 90% throttle - and that was only a couple times... most of the time the highest it gets is the 26.5* --- that is, until I used the booster!!

Cam 2 is 4.50 here and I LOVE the feel when its in the car and the smell of the exhaust reminds me of the track.
