Sorry about above post. I did ask and he didn't know. I have always wondered why. I must be having more serious mental problems today. Sorry.

aaahh, that could be it... the 110 could be leaded and not street legal as you said... seems that anything I see over 100 octane is leaded and deemed "not street legal / for offroad use only"...

The 100 octane this place by me has, is unleaded and is street legal... so hopefully I don't need a gas can, cuz I won't have one with me

I am sure you are all too young to remember, but back when leaded gas was still sold next to that new-fangled 'unleaded' stuff, the unleaded was more expensive. Sorta struck me as odd since gas does not have lead removed to make unleaded, the leaded gas had the lead added to it. So, they took the same product, added an additional additive to it (lead) and it cost less than the no-lead stuff. But...since the cat-con cars needed unleaded, you paid the extra money and shut your mouth. (at the time, they had a similar deal as on the diesel pumps now, the nozzle was bigger on the leaded gas so it could not be put in the (required) smaller unleaded opening in your tank vs the old, bigger style openings before then.)

Well I was just a kid back then, but I remember my dad letting out the little bb's in the cat converter and boring out the filler tube so he could burn leaded.

I remember buying a little plastic adapter to put on the leaded nozzle.

You guys suck for being able to get race gas without having to drive 5 hours in any direction...

On a side note, Fairfax county Virginia police are sneaking in some "non-ordinary" police cars to stop people: saw a last body-style Mustang (I did not have enough time to really check it out) pulling over an Eclipse the other day, blue strobes attached to the driver side visor.

So, it's probably a good thing I cannot get race gas easily

don't feel bad - it's kind of cost prohibitive for me at this point - just wanted to try it out since the place is only 20 minutes from my house... I put in 5 gallons of the 100 octane, and filled the rest of the tank with 93 -- so now I have 95 octane... but it cost me about $70!!! yeah, definitely not an option for every fill-up...

With 14.5 gals ofsunoco ultra 94 at 3.39/gal, and 2.5 gals of cam 2 110 at 5.40/gal, gives me an avg of $3.69/per gal on this fill up. As close as these stations are it doesn't seem too unreasonable. And the ultra 94 went down to 3.29/ gal last night.

FWIW -

Read this past month in Chevy High Performance the different octane levels (91, 92, 93) across the US are due to elevation changes, and the need to mix w/ different atmospheres.
