Did the rockers help the 40+ acceleration?
I raced a 2006 Impala SS last night on the high way. I could tell he had exhaust and some goodies. From 100km we launched and I walked all over him. Then he past me trying top end At 170 he was slow down and I kept walking on him to like 230km before it starts to flatten out. And I am waiting to get my dyno tune still

Ok so I just got back from the race. Too bad it has to be 95* out today, I could tell my car wasnt running as strong as it usually does ( although I'm sure his wasn't either) First race was from a dig, and we both launched pretty good, and he stayed right next to me to about 40 or so, then he gradually started pulling away. I hit 110 or so and he had 2 cars on me. Then we went from a 30 roll, I had it in 1st gear already, not sure what gear he was in, probably 2nd. The Cobalt definetly did better this time, we only went to 100 and he got me by 2-3 cars. It was fun though, he said he's gonna order the Stage 2 kit from GM, the car should really move after that.

What??? are you talking about the supercharged cobalt SS versus the standard cobalt ss?? or are you talking about the supercharged cobalt ss versus the monte/impala ss??

the "stock" Supercharged Cobalt SS only has 205 hp and 200 lb-ft torque...

the Monte/Impala SS's have 303 hp and 323 tq...

Then either you had some issues with the car or else he has more then just a intake.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread as I have owned both. My Cobalt had Stage II, extrude honed manifold and the GMPP exhaust. It made for an extremely FAST car. Do not underestimate it!

Slap an even smaller Pully on that supercharger. 2.8 or 2.7, and it will definitely take the 5.3

I sold my cobalt a few months ago as I am looking to get another vette shortly.

I agree, however that's not the issue/question at hand here... he's talking about against a "stock" cobalt (intake only)...

should be able to take that without a problem...

I understand i have been around a few that would prolly put your old one away with no problems, but a stock cobalt with only an intake as mentioned at the begining is not going to take a stock imp or monte ss.

Yes it can. At the track probably not, but in a street race it definitely can.

the cobalt does not take the ss/gxp on street or track. i have raced one from a dig and a roll from 70 to 110. the dig i had over 2 cars by 80 and the roll i was taken by 1/2 a car. they move more than our 5.3's in 2nd hands down.

In a straight line 5.3 has them right. On the track (with corners) the cobalt will pull it out.

awwww. no one wants to pick on me

anyways, stock for stock. if the person with the 5.3 can drive, he/she will win.

not all cars are created equal. some trap 92 stock, some trap 100 stock. mine went 97 stock, which is what the gxp did stock as well.

mod for mod, im leanin more towards the cobalt, from a roll at least. they are a bitch to launch with out hazing the tires
