Yeah, had my mileage gone to $h!t after the K&N i would have dumped it...but it's been there all along. I didn't gain anything either, mileage wise, but i'm assuming the small performance gain and the sound is still worth it.

Just wonderful...i opened up the K&N box and opened the OEM intake and no screen to be found. I remember attempting to put it back in a while ago and when it wouldn't set right, i set it to the side...somewhere. Now i don't know WTF i did with it.

Anyway, i cleaned up the filter and reoiled it...pretty sure i used too much though...so i'll be doing weekly cleanings of the MAF for the next coupla months

Now i gotta find a MAF screen for this one. What other MAF's are comparable in size?

NOt to bring this back but the c5 zo6 maf are factory wo a screen. I removed mine and it seems to run fine wo it.

come on guys, that screen is not going to catch anything. if something got through the air filter its going to go through the maf screen. I really don't see that happening. but i would leave it in considering the computer is not as aggressive as a ls1 camaro's computer.

FWIW, when I lost mine after the K&N install, my A/F was way outta wack. Bought a new MAF w/screen and put it back in and everything went back to normal.

I have read the screens are used to smooth out the air flow into the MAF to allow it to read the air flow correctly. My MAF on my Z has no screen but the whole intake is designed to smooth the air flow from the K&N filter, tubing all the way to the airfoil on the TB.

Buff, I remember your trims were really screwed before, where did they fall into after the new MAF?

Its all abotu the tune. If you are good at tuning, you can remove the MAF screen with no problems. Again, you will have to tune and tune and tune to get things right.

Alot of the Ported L67/L32 TB do not have a screen on them.

Bill, they got back in line where they were supposed to be by just installing the screen, but I can't remember exacts. As you read before, i got rid of the Diablo and am just going stock for a (long?) while.

the granatelli MAF may be a waste but i just bought a MAF by Jet Chip for about $290 and it helped greatly. i didn't gain as much as my K&n intake did but i would roughly guess about 10 hp increase compared to the intake's 13-17 gain

You didn't gain 13-17 from the intake, and I doubt there is 10hp to be gained at the MAF. I'll hold firm to these beliefs until I see a dyno tell me otherwise (and not one from the manufacturer).
