Well thanks corny40 a few of the wires where diffrent color but on the left collumn the 4th wire is the ignition wire and on the right collumn the first one is ground. So there posistions are the same. It worked like a charm i can now use my GPS any time i want without having to hookup the cigrette lighter. For anyone who cares the connector that works on our mirrors is http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search They fit perfect and don't move easily.

I'm still undecided on how I like mine setup with the rearview mount and invisicord. I like the security of it being there and not having to worry about suction cups falling off. Sometimes it annoys me hangin from there though. Still beats having to unplug it all the time though.

I really love mine. The only thing that bugs me, is if it gets mis-aligned, then I have to spend forever getting it set just right again.

I'm still not sure what line i tapped into at the fuse box, so i may get the invisicord down the line. Don't want to cause power failure to anything and have the dealer deny me warranty service b/c of it.

As far as the mount goes, even with a smaller detector i wouldn't want it that low in my field of vision...i like where mine is mounted...and even with it's "extreme" size, i've never had a suction cup fail.

For whatever reason mine never holds up where you have yours Buff. It's weird. It will stay fine if it's in the very lower part of my windshield, but if it's up there it falls off imediately. I'd rather not think about the effects of the radar detector flyin off and hitting me in the face when I'm driving 80 down the highway haha. I was originally Going to put it where you have yours til I saw how it wouldn't stay. All in all I like it with the mount, I just can never seem to get it completely alligned straight, and stuff like that bugs me. And now with my sub it makes it rattle alot, so I just took it down for now. The only thing I like about having it low on my windshield is the fact that in then acts like a poor mans HUD since my detector you can have it set to use the GPS to display your speed at all times so I don't have to look at my speedo I can just look right there and see how fast I'm going.

Are you trying to place the suction cups over the antenna bumps? That would be an obvious problem. Mine is just beneath the bumps and had never faltered. I would like to have it up higher, actually, so i'm considering super-gluing the mount over those bumps to get it up another inch or two.

The whole point of the cord is to be removable theres pins that just slide into the module and touch the wire clips. As for causing wire damage if you exceeded the cababilitys of the wiring the fuse would go off. My GPS hooked up to my mirror uses a little less then 1 amp @ 13 volts and i'm almost sure the radar detectors use alot less.

Hmm, I guess that's possibly what happened.

I'm not worried about exceeding the power draw...i'm worried about the fact that it's down near the floor where the salt does its thing. I used the V1 hardwire kit. The wire splice is secure, and shouldn't be an issue, but not knowing what i tapped into to get accessory power is a small concern of mine. I guess if something fails down the line, i'll check there first.

What about a poor man who thinks he's not poor? haha. FWIW, anyone considering a 9500i should really look into if they really need the added options. Straight up performance wise I think it's pretty much the same as the 8500 X50 and just adds the GPS capabilities(speed display, ability to mark locations, lock out what false alarms it does pick up, etc.) Don't get me wrong, it's a sweet device, but if I had it to do over I probably would have just saved the 150 bucks and went with the X50. Although the 9500i does have the ability to hook up to you computer via USB, however the feature is not yet used for anything, so it will be interesting to see what it's used for. I hear that at the least you're going to be able to download a database of all the redlight cameras in the US so all the positions will be stored and it will give you a warning when you approach. But of course, common sense just tells you to not go through a damn red light haha.
