Where you putting the detector? I may consider gluing (sp?) the suction cups just above the left 1/2 of the mirror where the black dots are...but don't want to damage the windshield.
As far as the OP's question, there are little metal prongs on the ends of the cord that you stick in, from the backside, to the plug. You don't have to unplug the existing plug, just stick those prongs into it. Hopefully, I explained that right.
Anyway, here's the best pic I've got, plus some others.

As far as the V-1 its the only kind I have ever had and I havent had a ticket for 10+years so I will stick with it. I am sure the other brands have caught up to it by now as far as quality. Years ago it was the best. Nothing even close. But isn't the passport 9500 supposed to be better in some bands now.

...and now that i've said that aloud, i'll be gluing the cups to the dotted area behind the mirror to get it more out of sight.

I rearended a car going about 40 and stuck it through my forehead and eyebrow.
I bled EVERYWHERE in my white interior car and IT HURT!
Keep it up by the mirror if possible!
Of course IMO.
As far as the current draw (amps), I have no idea. If I can find my multi-meter, I'll try to measure it, but if you can plug your GPS into your lighter socket, I would guess you would be fine tapping into the mirror wiring just fine. Mind you, I'm no electrical engineer. I just wish I was one.
