invisicord New V-1 going in the MC SS. And just ordered an invisicord. It looks fairly easy to install. Do you just pull the plug from the back of the rearview mirrow and plug directly to the correct slots for power and ground. Just wondering Thanks for any info.
Yes, I believe it just taps into the backside of the wiring harness...but Corny should be able to verify this, though, as he used it for his Escort. I just wired mine down the passenger A-pillar...can't even see it. Probably would have gone with the invisicord had i known about it prior to the hardwire jobby. I also bought a remote mute cord for mine but need to relocate it, though.
Where you putting the detector? I may consider gluing (sp?) the suction cups just above the left 1/2 of the mirror where the black dots are...but don't want to damage the windshield.

I've got the Escort 8500 X50, and I love it. The Valentine is nice too.
As far as the OP's question, there are little metal prongs on the ends of the cord that you stick in, from the backside, to the plug. You don't have to unplug the existing plug, just stick those prongs into it. Hopefully, I explained that right.

Thanks but which plugs does it go into. Obviously one has to be power and one ground. I would like it to be powered down when the car isnt running so you dont even have to turn it off if that is possible.
As far as the V-1 its the only kind I have ever had and I havent had a ticket for 10+years so I will stick with it. I am sure the other brands have caught up to it by now as far as quality. Years ago it was the best. Nothing even close. But isn't the passport 9500 supposed to be better in some bands now.

Verdad Gallardo Eddie: I got it here. For my 2006, the 3/4" one worked, but someone from NAIOA told me it didn't work on thier 2007. They make a .9" one that would probably work. Just to be safe, you could just measure the diameter of the post. Oh yeah, the Impala logo is just some decal I added.

My rearview has the autodim, onstar, 2 lights, etc... The connector in my mirror is vertical with 2 colums of 8 slots. Here's the color of each wire going into each of them...
Left column:
empty
brown/white
black/white
light yellow, almost white Ignition
light bluish-green/black
aqua/white
gray
light bluish-green
Right column:
black Ground
empty
orange

Corny40 do you know if the wires are the same in the 06 monte carlo's ? I have a Garmin GPS and i'm tired of charging it. If i can tie it into the mirrors power that would be great. Also do you know the amperage of the wiring for the mirror ?
According to the parts list, they are the exact same mirror. Just to be safe though, you should be able to compare the color of the wires in your mirror's harness to the colors I listed earlier. If they're the same, you should be okay.
As far as the current draw (amps), I have no idea. If I can find my multi-meter, I'll try to measure it, but if you can plug your GPS into your lighter socket, I would guess you would be fine tapping into the mirror wiring just fine. Mind you, I'm no electrical engineer. I just wish I was one.

Yea i was thinking the same thing but just incase i looked up the specs for it and it says it can accept a 12 to 24 DC current. It also pulls 15 watts at 13.3 volts so thats about 1 amp. I guess if its pulling to much current a fuse for the mirror will blow

I'm trying to make my own connector but i don't want to splice the wires so i'm trying to find the connectors that they use on the invisicord. I'm almost sure its called a pin connector. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...&tab=techSpecs

Regarding the rearview mirror mount the 3/4 does NOT fit the 2007. But the .9 fits perfect as Corny said. Apparently they got the mirror stems from elsewhere for 2007 which is why it doesn't fit. As far as a detector I use an Escort 9500i. It has alot of fancy extra gadgets revolving around GPS. Such as the ability to mark in false alarms so they don't go off again, or mark areas where their may be speed cameras or something. Also when an alert goes off it displays your speed on the detector. All these things are neat, however if I had it to do over, I would have just gotten the 8500 like Corny and saved over 100 bucks. Performance wise they're basically identical and for the premium you pay for the extra stuff I don't think it's that worth it. On a side note to Buff. Does your EZ-Pass read okay up there? I wanted to put mine up there and out of the way but didn't know if the black dots would somehow inhibit the signal.
