Aftermarket wheels & tires, or just new tires?
With new 8"-8.5" wheels, it's proven that you can get 255's in there...sometimes without even rolling the fender....depending on the offset. Corny has 20" Mazzi Klaw's in the 8.5" width, +40 offset (iirc) and 255-series tires. He had to roll the rear fenders slightly.
On a new, wider set of 18" wheels, again depending on the offset, you might be able to squeeze 245's in there.
Only one way to find out, huh?

I personally think you would be alright with the 245, but I wouldn't go any higher. Your not going to hurt the side walls buy running them. I'm running 305's on a 8" wide wheel on my truck and have no problems.
