if the DOD is in the lifters, y would changing the cam affect it? should still work no matter what cam was in there, as long as the lift was less than .590", right?
and the LS2 cam and heads r the same as the '01 LS6 cam and heads... so the LS4 heads r the same as those except with the old LS1 valve springs...

The DoD cylinder lobes are different heights than the 'regular' ones. The lifters look to be different heights and that makes up for the difference.

The crank is the only thing diff, Heads are 243 LS6 and any LSX cam should work! Don't get intimidated because it's sideways, it's mostly the same just tighter constraints! If GM doesn't come out with a nicer 4DR "SS" within the next 2-4yrs, I will pull this baby out, stroke it (383-408) and have the trans done by Eric@ DynoTech! Not a drag racer, just a 450HP cruiser that will go from 60-150mph with the best of 'em! Hmmm??? M5, E63, you get the picture! I'm kinda surprised we haven't seen that yet? Anyway's wish I had the ***** to put a cam in it now! 1400miles!I gotta wait!

Too bad cam and tranny mods require the entire powertrain to be dropped.

Most vehicles that your gonna modify cam/heads/trans will one way or the other require removal of the powertrain! This isn't too bad, it all comes down together then it's simple, those 4th gen f-bodies aren't much easier(valve springs)!

Comp Cams makes camshafts for the 5.3 DoD engine. I know because I've called them. The only concern is the bolt pattern on front of the camshaft. The factory cam is likely the single bolt version whereas most cams made are still the three-bolt versions. Lingenfelter make an adapter for this.

We have the 243 heads from the Corvette LS6 motor and a similar intake.

The most aggressive cam so far is a TR224 IIRC.

I know of one DOD cam swap and 4 nonDOD cam swaps. My cam is a 056 Boss; http://www.vincihiperformance.com/CA...%20LS1%202.htm not alot of lope but I'm setting my car up for N20. Be forwarned a cam swap has alot of hidden costs.

Youtube: Type "Sound Off GXP Mustang", first video, kinda dark, both cars *** ends.. That's a cammed LS4, using the New Era G8GT High Lift DoD cam.. I don't see why aftermarket cams for the LS1/2/6 won't all fit?
