I'm planning on getting the exhaust done on my GXP this week. In this groups valued opinoin what should I do. Flowmasters or muffler eliminating straight pipes? My wife doesn't mind the noise, so that's not an issue but does the LS4 sound good without mufflers? Is it deafening inside? I took them off my GTO(RIP) and it sounded bad ***! cut outs are a little too pricey for me at the moment. Thanks for your opinions.

The LS4 has some pingy (hard to describe??) sounds with mufflers, I wold go with a straight through bullet-style muffler (Borla, Dynomax, B&B, kooks) and it takes some of the pingy noise away and sounds throaty.

I have 3" into Kooks bullets and they sound sick...better than M/F system but not raspy.

Thanks. That's why I asked. I didn't want to get it done and not be happy with the sound. The 97-99 Tahoes and silverados w/ the 5.7 vortechs had a similar sound if you ran duals, but it went away if you ran through one muffler. Must guys didn't hear it(especially the proud owners), but it was there. Thanks for the help.

I would stay away from the Mangaflow system untill you wanna replace their res that comes with it. If you do that, then the car will sound really nice. Trust me, I went through this for 2 months when I first brought the car and I was pissed.

Right now I'll probably being staying stock until after the resonators. Just looking for fairly cheap sound improvement now. later I'll go all out. Are you guys just removing the resonators all together or replacing them?

Hogan downpipe, Hogan res pipe and magnaflow system, the perfect combo for a great price.

I got the Magnaflow system for 570 and then I had curt make me a custom res straight pipe. You will have to contact him for price on that. Most systems sometimes can run close to 800+

If you were to go all out, my stainless steel custom 3" system was $600 with kooks bullet mufflers, no res...So look beyond the M/F system because its not the only cost effective one.

Thanks. I'm going to take it to the guy who has done the exhaust on everything I've owned. He knows his **** and does it at a good price. I'll run all your ideas by him and listen to his then decide what I'll do. I just want it to sound good. Thanks for the insight.

i got my cutout from jegs.com for $30, its not an electric but i really dont mind removing and replacing the flange by hand and for 30 bucks this thing sounds like a monster IMO, best mod next to the nitrous that ive done
