Default Rear Main Seal...?

Anybody have any rear main seal leaking issues?
I noticed an oil glazed oil pan during my most recent oil change

Had it on a lift last weekend...
Looks like it is seeping down from the block tranny area...
car has 10000 miles....

I had a small oil leak. Didnt even have any on my garage. But when I had my first oil change at 1k miles the said it was at the oil pan gasket. They fixed it right away.

I've heard about this..... The Service Bulletins take so long to get to us, that by the time we have a problem, there's 14 others that need to be fixed.

This is the first time I am following up on a TSB with my dealer..what are some of the responses you have had? Were issues fixed in a timely manner, or do I need boxing gloves?

Well there was quite a protracted list for me...and the dealer tech's are so damn lazy. If they don't find the fix in 5 minutes, the problem automatically becomes filled under "not able to be re-produce by technician."

1. Sweaky power steering (also clunky when turned all the way one direction)
2. Mysterious noise coming from rear of the car (a clunk)
3. Electrical distortion/noise coming through my AUX input jack
4. Bad window seal
5. Electrical update/Remote start and new fobs
6. Theft Deterrent System
7. Passenger no seatbelt chime/light (comes on randomly when there's just me in the car, or sometimes there's somebody there and it never goes off when they aren't wearing their seatbelt)
8. Keep getting a code for "airbag system-service now"
9. Bad alternator
10. My speakers run at low power all the time.

Personally, I love these cars but they sure have a lot of electrical problems.

Damn..that is a ton of issues..pretty pathetic when the certified techs cant even do their job properly. Between a comprised product and lack of support, no wonder people look elsewhere

I love my car as well...it is a blast to drive..I gotta call my dealer for an appt..

Thanks for the info!

Hey Nacho, what did they do about your speakers running at low power? I think I may have the same problem, I can turn my volume up like half way and just barely hear the radio. I know I'm not going nuts because I was in a Cadillac DTS with pretty much the same radio and the sound output was much better.

It seems I had the same problem. If I turn up the volume past half-way, the speakers just crap out and buzz. I was told there was a faulty line and alternator, not giving proper power supply. They replaced those under warranty. It is frustrating when I can barely hear my own radio....but that big v8 thing makes nice sounds too!

my work order references TSB 05-06-01034E, but yes, they did apply this to my 07 (guess it was easier to add an 'E' than fix it in production?!

I got under the car yesterday..no oil leak, but a tranny line was weaping a bit and the Neutral to Reverse shift is between clicks....

Looks like my car might need this fix as well, it's looking oil from somewhere. If I'm lcuky maybe it's just the pan gasket, then the car won't be on the shop for too long. I wonder how difficult it is to do a rear main seal on one of these cars compared to a RWD V8 car.

Hey Jeep -
My dealer was pretty quick..dropped the car wednesday nite, had it back by friday eve.
They didnt have to drop the motor, 'only' the tranny..no further evidence of leaking, so I think the problem is fixed..

Your jeep must sound awesome..friend at work has a 1500 series RAM with a 360 and catback...very cool sounding truck..

Was about to change the oil today. Noticed a big oil spot on the back of the Engine oil pan. coming from between the pan and the tranny.
Thanks to this site an all you guys at least I can give the dealer all the info hee needs so hopefully It will not take too long. I didn't change the oil cuz obviously they will have to drain it, i am sure they will not use fully Syntetic oil.
and she just turned 10 000 miles. Without any major issues requiring dealer service.
I am going to walk to the bar now....... drown the sorrow!
