Default Changing Gauge Cluster?

I wonder if it's possible to swap in a gauge cluster out of a Lacrosse Super into my Impala? I never really liked the look of the stock cluster, kind of cheap looking. The Buick one is a bit nicer looking, I really like the blue backround. Seems to me like it would hook right up, but I'm not sure if the mileage is stored in the cluster itself or the computer. Anyone try this yet?

I changed out my cluster, and from what I saw, I doubt that the mileage is stored in the cluster itself. Also, from the looks of it, you should be able to swap in the Lacrosse cluster, but I wonder if you will still get all the gauges to register correctly??? I'd hate to see how much GM is asking for a Lacrosse cluster though.

Yeah I wonder about all the gauges working properly too. Seems to me that they *should*, but who knows. I'll find out how much the cluster is going for on Monday just for the hell of it.

However much it is, I'm sure it's 2 to 3 times the $175 I paid for my cluster.

It does look pretty nice though.

That thing is boring...I'll stick to the stock cluster which I happen to think looks really good. That Lacrosse one is like going back to the 00-05 style cluster. =P Downgrade IMO.

It looks alot better on the Buick website, and from the looks of the pics Buff posted, that thing will not fit in the Impala.

the more I look at it, the more it reminds me of the cluster that was on the scooter I rented in Key West.

Anything is possible....but how much do you want to spend? My guess would be that it is not plug and play.

Classy? I think it looks just plain cheap....I'll agree if you say it's too conservative. I think that might be a better word to describe it.

The picture Buff posted above is what comes in a regular Lacrosse. Here is what the cluster looks like in the Super http://mcgonigal.klings.com/3084-08B...er/3084-20.jpg

Better looking than the standard Lacrosse, but still not to my liking. I like mine just fine.

Have you thought about the stainess overlays like the ones Corny installed? Or are you looking for a completely different appearance?

Oh yeah, Corny: Do you have pics of your install? I mean, step-by-step pics like you said you'd do?

Buff: I do have the step by step pics, but honestly, it is so damn easy to figure out how to get to that piece and install the overlay (w/the instructions they provided), that I didn't really think it was that necessary, and no one expressed any interest in doing it and needing help. So, I never bothered taking the time to put it all together.

Nacho: The color I have is a custom job. USSpeedo doesn't have any plans to produce others with that color, but I'm sure they could if you a$ked them.
The regular ones come stainless with either blue or red illumination. FWIW, w/our colored lighting, I couldn't imagine the red looking very good.

I like the stainless steel ones. I'm pondering if in the future I might pick up a set in blue. Corny, after reading your review again over at NAIOA it seems the install was pretty straight forward aside from gettin the needles back on right.
