Hmm.. Last time I checked, this is a LS4 board and a LSX fourm, not 3.9 So why should I look for something that is not even related to the first post??? Tell me that friend? He clearly posted for the LS4 5.3 cars and he is wrong. And if you would go back and look, you would see that I posted not long after he did about there not being a service bulletin for the LS4 cars and I wanted the number so I could look it up if my system was wrong. No, I do not sell cars, but atleast I can tell the difference between a 3.9 and 5.3 service bulletin.

Thats kinda funny, because I have been telling people about any LSX car needs back pressure. Anyways, I have checked the GM Service program and there is NO bulletin for our cars as of 10-30-07 per GM. IF you have a GM bulletin number, please post it as I can also look those up aswell.
The problem would be more in the Cat and not the exhaust. The exhaust is really very free flowing from stock. The res acts as a 3rd muffler. I am wondering * if this is true * if GM found the downpipe to not be the correct size or the cats are flowing too much.
I will not say much more untill I look into this Bulletin... If there even is one.![Rolleyes](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/rolleyes.gif)

See, now that's good info. And it was done without being an insulting *******. Some people could learn from this.

Hey... I tell you guys things when my Service Manager peeks his head into my office and tells me I need to look for this or that because of a bulletin. If it effects my car, it effect you guys and I try to help. But I'm sure he is not replacing 5.3L exhaust systems without some type of Ok by GM. He may be a little crazy, but I don't think he would like to pay for the 3 5.3L systems they have already replaced since Friday.

There you go again, haten. Do you really think that dealership is putting 3.9 exhausts on the 5.3's. And, other than not having chrome tips, how much diff is the exhaust on a 3.9? They could be the same mufflers and resonator, they deffinately look the same. Finding this out could give you something constructive to do for a change. I would also bet that the above mentioned service dept would not want you in there either.

Even if i could get a new exhaust i'm glad there wasn't a TSB it means GM really fuqed up if our 8's are having misfires from the factory :-\ and if it matters i think taz looked it up in 28 seconds not 30 i think he was being modest

GM Part Number for 3.9 Exhaust:15865899
GM Part Number for 5.3:15685896
The 5.3 Exhaust has 2 different location for hangers.
The 3.9 Ehhaust only has 1 hanger in a different location then the 5.3 Per GM Tech Display, which can be off or correct.
The pipes are all Stainless Steel, minus the Mufflers, which are alumium.
The Size of pipes are smaller on the 3.9 vs the 5.3 2" vs 2.25"
The 3.9 also comes around the fuel tank tighter then the 5.3 exhaust system, there for the t pipe is not as big as the 5.3 is.
