I'll be jumping ship asap. For a G8 GXP or a new Camaro. I miss my old 06 GTO and my 07 300 SRT-8. FWD just stinks for performance.

Same here, so far after 40K there's been no "real" issues with my car.

0% financing, fast enough, it's a great car for a DD.

I'd get an awd Trailblazer SS, $27,400 (no leather though) and with just a vector tune and my $80.00 intake will run mid 13's, pulls a big boat, plenty of room for the kids, and I only lost about 1 mpg in the city vs my 06 Impala SS (hwy is a diff story though). AND alot more potential to go faster, and better in the winter than the fwd. Sorry just had to add this.

AWD for $27,400? I would have gotten one for that cheap, but there aren't any around here that cheap. Obviously you're not gonna pay MSRP, but MSRP on the RWD TBSS only starts at $31k and the AWD at $34k. I would have gotten one over the Imp if I could have gotten an AWD at 7 grand under MSRP.

GMS and $5,000 rebate at the time. There is still a $4,000 rebate.

Damn, there were crap deals back in April when I got the SS. Although I'd be complaining even more about gas mileage I would have totally looked into getting one had they had those kind of rebates then.

That's a 4200lb pig too. The 6.1l hemi means nothing when the car weighs as much as a small truck!

And there WILL be a 3.5l version of the Challenger. Sorry.

Never got lower than 14, never higher than 16. I do 95% of my driving in 35 mph stop and go single file traffic to work which is about 5 miles away and takes about 11 minutes. The Impala got about 17 mpg. I have driven the tbss on a few 70 mile back road, stop signed, through small town trips, but the mileage just doesn't seem to change much city or hwy. The 07 tbss rating is 14/17, is the 08 rating 12/16 for the tbss? I haven't looked. The 4.10 gears in the tbss really kills the hwy mileage, but on long trips we'll take the wifes car, which may soon be a new Malibu with a 4 banger. After sitting in the new Malibu, there seems to be more rear leg room than the Imp. It will be interesting to see how the Malibu vs Impala sales work out over the next couple of years.

Yes 08 is rated at 12/16.

What is funny is my Impala SS gets the same mileage as the wifes Legacy GT. . . .roughly 18/24

Damn 12/16, I'd be complainin even more about gas mileage if I had a TBSS. With the Imp I get about 12.5/25. Highest consistent number I've seen while on flat road with cruise control at 75 was low 30's.

Default Jumping ship...

Nah. I’ll stay put.

I purchased the SS to have a 4 door comfortable car with a big trunk and civilized features. Originally I was looking at a new 2008 Mercury Sable but the dealer wanted 1K more for the model I pieced together than the price of a fully loaded SS. So I got the SS thinking that I filled my requirements and saved $1000.

When I floored the pedal for the first time, I said to myself “Whoa, Beavis…” Talk about frosting on the cake. I had the best of all worlds, a civilized non-attention grabbing (though it’s black on black so there are some stares), low insurance premium, quiet 4 door sedan and its antithesis; a fire breathing, tire smoking, snarling predator with little respect for the laws of physics. I actually like the front drive with the copious torque steer. It is unique. Takes some getting used to just like my old (RIP) highly modified ’90 Mustang LX 5.0 notchback. Equally prone to anti-social street behavior bordering on downright dangerous when overly stimulated.

The SS will remain to perform its allotted duties of grocery getter, daily driver, Dutch Shepherd carrier and long road trip car. My other cars are my performance/guinea pigs as thy have many miles on them…but when one of them checks out, I will probably get a new LS3 Corvette, or whatever the LS designation of the time will be.

Long live the LS!

I think the challenger is gonna be a little lighter than that. DC is shortening the challenger by 3 inches. so i am guessing a curb weight at 3800-4000 lbs. Seeing is the magnum is 4200 at 200 inches. so you are looking at a low 13 second car.
plus they are in talks about doing a 392 hemi. gonna be pretty sick.

Not jumping the GXP ship for a long time but the future GTO has my interest. Having an 06 GTO they are going to have to do better than the LS3 to make me excited to have one. Especially due to dod feature. 25-30 extra ponies is nothing that a guy couldnt make up in headers & a tune. I could see LS3 in std gto and maybe the LS7 in the JUDGE version. Now that would get me excited.
