Where does it say that a new GTO is confirmed for future production? Last I heard there were rumors of a new GTO but nothing more.
I plan on keeping the SS, but if a new RWD Impala comes along it may be too good to pass up. And the concept Impala I saw in Motortrend looks pretty sweet! The G8 is nice, but not really diggin the looks. Definetly would LOVE a Trailblazer SS, but can't justify having another vehicle and auto loan at this time.

There is no confirmed GTO. Not much has been said with the exception of them saying that IF they produce another car like that it will most likely use the GTO nameplate rather than using the Trans Am name.

Well good news (for me). There is more positive news of bringing in a G8 UTE! Woot. I'll be getting one of these if it happens!

I'm holding out for the new Impala...if and when it comes. If i had to choose something right now, it'd be the AWD TBSS as well. As soon as the Imp breaks warranty next year, i'll be cracking into the engine and modding this as much as possible, sin F/I...just cannot afford a $5000 turbo.
I'm in the same boat as 20SS07, though....only getting 12 or so in all City driving...one stop to the next. Unless you live, work and play in the city...such driving cannot be replicated. I know some THINK they're "City" drivers...but the 1/4-1/2mi to the next light in the suburbs does not count.
Hmmmm....missing a 2007 already? We're not even out of the calendar year yet!

Yeah, i'm a special boy! Again...i'm pretty certain that MY definition of "City" is closer to the real thing than anyone elses...much like 20SS07's. Drive 500', stop sign. 500' more, stop sign. 500', red light...and so on...all day. If i get on the highway, it's 80mph @ 15mpg for at most 5mi.

It is amazing how much the commute matters. I moved from one place to another with a similar 4-5 mile commute to work. The results of my mileage change are below.
Old Commute:
Travel Speed: 25 mph for about 3 miles 35 mph for about 2 miles with a handful of stop signs and lights
Mileage: 13(winter) and 15(summer)
New Commute:
Travel Speed: 25mph 1.5 miles, 35 mph for 1 mile, 45 mph for 2.5 miles. Similar number of stop signs and lights.
Mileage: 16(winter) and 18.5(summer)
Amazing indeed. . .Buff I think you should invest in a Vespa

Yeah...you know the camaro aint the last muscle car gm is putting out before they have to stop altogether with the way oil is...they're def saving the best stuff for last....like a REAL monte carlo!! Hey...I can dream right?

For some reason, I just cannot get into the look of the new G8. I mean, I like some of things on it (RWD for example). And stock specs says same performance as the GXP.
I could never really get into the look of the GTO either.

Picking a fight? Not at all! Well, it's the UTE I'm interested in...not the wagon. My first few cars were small pickup trucks...and I loved them. So this totally fits the bill for me. Truck like utility with car like handling...doesn't get much better than that for me. I don't mind it being a 2 seater...I'm used to riding alone and it wasn't any different in my trucks.
This is the UTE...not a wagon.

When I was a kid...I was a monte carlo fan. As a child, I never owned a truck, so the el camino was nothing more than a weird looking car to me. Now that I'm older, I guess you can say I have a new found respect for it. I wish they were bringing this car back as an el camino...but it looks like if it does, it'll be a pontiac. Which is cool too...it'll def be a head turner.

The El Camino SS from the late 80's was alright, heard it never really sold well here in the States. That Holden would sell a few thousand to the die-hard fans and no more, so there's a very good chance it will never come here unless the Pontiac tooling will adapt to that chassis. The wagon version might work, since this market is transitioning into crossovers. Dodge already has one, and in typical GM fashion, they may copy it several years from now.
I too am not a fan of the SSR ... way too heavy and slow, not to mention very pricey for what you get. GM should have made one in the $25 - 32K range.

Well, it's practically official. Sometime after the 2008 Pontiac G8 goes on sale next year, a truck-style utility will join the G8 family as kind of a throwback to the Chevy El Camino. Only Pontiac will get this version of the Australian-built Holden Commodore SS, so GMC is out of luck.
