amusing (to me) story

amusing (to me) story So I am heading to work this morning around 2:30 am and come to a stoplight. The road is three lanes wide and I am in the middle (right lane merges back into my lane about 1/4 up.)
Sitting at the red light, listening to the soft burble of the little engine when two vehicles come flying up, one on each side of me and hit the brakes hard to stop.
200x Eclipse and 199x Explorer, and they are ready to rock and roll. Even before the opposing light goes yellow, they have crept far enough forward that their back tires are over the stop line.
Light goes green, Explorer gets the jump, much better traction than the Eclipse. Eclipse is now half a car length behind from the get go (about 2 lengths ahead of me, as I am just idling off the line.), next thing I hear is a slight squeal and the sliding whoosh sound of rapidly spinning tires. At this point I notice that my right foot has mysteriously placed itself down on the floor and it is the little Impala making those noises. After the spinning stopped, the pulling started. At this point the Explorer is 5 lengths ahead of me and the Eclipse maybe 3.5. Four seconds later, I am passing the Explorer (and you can hear its 6 cylinder engine screaming in agony as it goes into valve float). Passed him like he was standing still, put 2 lengths on him before letting off and settling in at 60 MPH (55 zone). He kept straining and managed to pass me before his lane ended. The Eclipse simply gave up and let off after I blew past him. Suprised the hell out of the both of them, I am sure. The little white car is all but invisible. Below everyone's radar.
Make no mistake, they were in a full-out race and I lazily passed between the both of them with no effort at all. Just amused me is all.

That is funny! Even moreso is the fact that this mysteriously happened out of nowhere...LOL. Never know when the brain decides to make your presence felt...no matter how little you think about it...having this power is nice at times like these.

Priceless Ha! That’s great. I don’t condone street racing, but I am not above the engaging in the occasional stoplight nonsense on my way to and from work. In fact almost every day some fellow commuters try to race anyone from stoplights.
It is amusing to watch and very tempting to join in and blast them away at the next light, but usually I don’t. But there are times when I am that law abiding good citizen that is stopped peacefully at the light and the quintessential *** clown pulls up and wants to race. They are easy to spot.
It’s funny; when I’m driving my Mustang, they pull up thinking “I’m going to try to take this Mustang.” And when they get shot down, they say to themselves “No big deal I didn’t think I stood a chance anyway.” Then usually they give me thumbs up.
When I’m driving the Impala they pull up thinking “I’m going to KILL this slow boring car with my superior ultimate driving machine.” And when they get chewed up, spit out, pissed on and buried they say to themselves “….WTF???” Then they sit there in complete shock unable to grasp what just happened. I always love to look at their faces afterward…priceless.

I would have to agree all LS4 equiped vehicles are sleepers, if not the ultimate sleeper.
As most folks don't know much about cars other than theirs and theirs is always the best.
Just today at lunch a guy in the new Infiniti G37S 330HP rear wheel thought he can easily pass me on the right. We were on a 3 lane highway going 70mph. He is riding my *** thinks he has an opening on the right guns I gun it. Well he was pulling or shall i say inching but not as hard as he thought he would pull He could not pass, ran out of room. When i got off of it I was 110mph. I kindly moved over for him when I got a chance. When he passed he just smiled. Don't get me wrong a 3.7L V6 with 330 hp's that is an amazing car.
LS4's are not the fastest cars on the road but most def one of the faster cars out there. Drive safe.
