Default G8 already has parts. . . .

Dissapointing indeed for my 07 Imp. . . .I mean they do have the Aussie version to base off of. . .but they are already advertising for when the G8 hits the street.. . . this will be one mean car. ..

We kind of are the red headed stepchild of GM. I think the LS4 cars were meant to be just a stop gap for the new Zetas that are coming out (G8, RWD Impala, Camaro, possible Buick Zeta?). All i know is these cars are fast and fun but FWD sucks for high performance driving and I'm getting a G8 GXP when they get here!

the ls4 car was just a test market car for gm. it was the deciding factor in bringing over the aussie breed or not.

think of it like the 07 classic trucks, and the 04 ford heritage trucks. parts laying around, had to use them for something.

Yep...no company wants to make parts because there arent enough of them out there.

The G8 will be pretty high production since it is taking over the Grand Prix line. That was one of GM's best lines before they purposely killed it.

Whenever the G8 gets a HUD then Ill think about buying it. But that twin turbo setup is sick. That is some crazy numbers.

You could probably bet the LS4 will no longer be in production before you get tranny support lol.

What parts do you guys want? Isnt there already cams out for the the LS4? And aftermarket heads are already available. Turbo kit is now available. Tuning software is available. And our trannies have been around for a long time so there are tons of aftermarket parts for it.

Cams--pretty much any cams that fits in a LS2 fits in our engines.

Heads--we have the good 5.3l PRC heads that people desire on their other LSx, so we're set there.

Turbo--great start, but a little pricey for most.

Tuning--its ether HPT or EFiLive, forget Diablo.

Tranny--costs a lot of money really to get anything "built" (its a FWD tranny...it can be pushed and pushed, but in the end, it still sucks).

Basically, not to refute your entire post, I think LS4 cars need more bolt-ons that the intermediate-performance minded enthusiast can install and enjoy. Sure, turbos/heads/cams are great, but they require some dough and some major disassembly of the car (like dropping the whole front clip for a cam install). If gears (3.73's), exhaust/headers (TRUE DUALS), intake (FAST), tune (Diablo errr...HPT), and wheels/tires (Brand X) were available, more people would be interested.

Personally I wouldn't want a lower gear in this car, but I'm sure ZZP or Intense could hook you up there. The stock intake manifold probably isn't too much of a restriction. As for exhaust, you're probably on your own there. Headers can be fabricated, and any good exhaust shop can hook you up with some true duals. HP tuners is available. As for wheels/tires the selection is somewhat limited, but that goes for all W-bodys. But the bottom line is there is not enough of a market out there for companies to invest the time/money it takes to bring a product to market. I suggest if you want something built gather up several people and contact some companies about getting the ball rolling with some aftermarket parts.

^True, if there was a market need, I guess we would have more parts...

Just for the record a G8 does 0-60 in 5.3 and my GXP will do it in 5.7 plus the G8 weighs in at 4000 plus! I'm only 3780. I know what the topic says but It just pisses me off when you guys start bashing your cars. RWD cars will always have more after market support, and
if you really want after market support then go out and buy a Mustang!

I wonder how hard it would be to fab up a true dual system on these cars. I looked underneath it a while back, and there doesn't seem to be much more room for another pipe to make its way back. I'm pretty sure I haven't heard of anyone doing this, but I'd be willing to do it if possible.

I hope your not refering to me 'bashing' my car, because I'm not. I love my Impala and I would take a new Impala SS over a new G8 anyday. I'm just stating the reason why more parts aren't available. Its not about RWD vs FWD, its that companies don't see that there's a big demand for aftermarket LS4 parts so they aren't willing to develop them. And personally, I'm not going much farther with my car performance-wise anyway so I don't need any more aftermarket support.

I looked too and it would be impossible due to the routing of our exhaust and how much clearance you are given (none) for any other routing. you could do it but then you would be underneath the frame and floor pans making it have zero ground clearance.
