Bought new in September. Just over 4K on her now. Winters here are usually rainy and gloomy. It rarely snows, but when it does it's totally crazy with all the hills and moronic drivers...who routinely put chains on the rear tires of their FWD cars.
Or even worse are yuppie scum who drive their enormous SUVs like it's summer (and are ALWAYS the first -and only- ones to wind up needing to be wenched out of streams, rivers, gulches, hillside swimming pools, blackberry patches etc...)
I live on a big hill and my other cars are not really suited for snow. Though the mr2 does surprisingly well, it is nice to also have a big FWD car to navagate through icy hilly streets with all sorts of cars abandoned every 100 feet or so.
