I ordered a magnaflow from hottexhaust on Jan. 1st got the tracking number and it should be here Monday. So they shipped mine out quick.

I'd rather have the magnaflow because atleast they have some dyno numbers and it's been tested out. With a custom one you are going more for sound.

I just wish there were more options like Borla or Corsa.

Stock exhaust is 2-1/4"

Magnaflow is 2-1/2" so you are getting the better numbers from the 1/4" larger pipe and better mufflers then stock.

Tust me, this has been covered before. If you free up the factory exhaust system, you will get more gains from stock. Nacho SS 3" exhaust system might give him more sound, but it also gives him more power aswell because you are freeing up the exhaust coming out.

I don't believe getting a 3inch cat back would give you more power. You would probably lose some low end torque going that big.

Why wouldn't Magnaflow have made it 3 inches? Cost?

I have yet to see a w-body that struggles from a loss of torque....In fact, I believe we have plenty of torque, but once you reach the top end of each gear, the car almost falls on its face. I see numerous times w-bod's trying to launch hard and all they do is sit there and burn the tires. I have mods that improve the top end (Rockers, Pushrods, Springs) and I believe I have developed a more balanced car. Still fast enough on the bottom end, but it has the power to wind out to 6500 RPMs and roll out hard instead of petering off at the top end of each gear. The 3 inch actually helps scavenge better, and I get better flow at the higher RPMs (exactly where I want it) and I haven't lost any major torque from going that big. As if any indication of better power, with the newest HPT tune I am putting together, I hope to be into the twelves on spray and DR's, so thats a good indication of how I changed around the performance aspect of the w-bod.

As for MF's reasoning on size, I can only guess that some customers would think the system to be to loud and it did require a little hammering in some spots to get it to fit right. That would negate their bolt-in status. Plus it would be a little different sound than what MF customers look for. MF is typically more mellow and warm....my system sounds more like a deeper LM1, kinda of like TSP true duals on a f-body.

Lose low end in these cars ain't bad but you gain it in the top end is perfect at the track since this motor likes to rev.

I installed mine a couple days ago. I think it sounds real good. It's loud enough when you hit the gas and mellows out a cruising speed. The tips are a little over the top though.

This way, since the res acts as a Mufflers anyways, I could always tell the cops that my muffler is in the middle. The law states that you need a muffler, a single muffler for each exhaust pipe, well since we really are a single exhaust with dual outlets, I dont think the cops would be smart enough to figure it out ***
I don't know why you would have to worry about the cops being smart enough. You should be fine with no mufflers and a res. I mean the Neon SRT 4 had no mufflers from the factory. They just had 2 resonators and then the exhaust split out into two straight pipes from there. Unless it's obnoxiously loud I don't you'd have a problem. Inspection wise that would usually pass as long as their is a cat in there and no leaks you'd just run into a problem if the cops thought it was too loud.

Yeah, but the Neon was quieted quite a bit by the turbo. While it is rare to be ticketed for it, most towns have laws on the books making it illegal to modify exhaust so that it is louder than stock. Dropping the mufflers off an LS4 is going to be a lot louder than an SRT.

Oh I know, I was stating that merely from an appearance/inspection standpoint he would be fine since he was mentioning how he would say that was his muffler. Which is why I mentioned that they could still say he was too loud and ticket him for that. If I remember correctly I think Corny40 was given a ticket for his exhaust.

Yes I was, but it was complete bullshit. The cop was just being an *******. We'll see what comes of it here in a couple of weeks. I got a lawyer and have my court date on the 22nd. Wish me luck.
