Damn I want a MF cat-back!

Mel, looks good! Are those the tips that came with the cat-back?

One thing I don't understand is why motorcycles can be loud as **** but cars can't.

I think it has a lot to do with the cops and the area. I used to have a 383 Nova. It had long tubes with 1 3/4" primaries, huge cam, and full 3" exhaust with 2-chamber flows. Had to be one of the loudest if not the loudest car in town. Cops did pull me over, but only to check out the car. There is a decibel limit here for exhaust systems, but to be honest cops here tend to only mess with Import ****-boxes. They tend to leave the real cars alone, which is good because my T/A is probably over the decibel limit.

Looks like the shop shortened the tail piped to get it to fit so nicely. Either that or they've made the Monte fit better than the Imp did for me. I definitely need to get the new tips i have on there moved in a bit...they stick out a bit too much for my liking.

What's the basis of your argument here? Sounds like it would be easier to pay the pittance of a fine as opposed to hiring an attorney to fight it. Can't remember the specifics of the incident, but unless it was tied to speeding (maybe it was?) that doesn't seem beneficial.

Buff I have a Monte and the tips stick out maybe an inch and a half. At first they didn't but I had to reajust everything cause it was way too close to the gas tank.

Now there is pretty good clearance but they do stick out too much.

Hey all. Noob here. I've had my car since July. It's an '06...bought it used with 12,000 miles. Just purchased the MF yesterday. No idea when it's going to get here, but I'm excited. Is anyone having problems with the clamps that came with the system? That's one thing that has me a little concerned. Oh and it's nice to have finally found a forum for this damn car. I swear for a while I thought I was the only one driving this car!

Quick Pic,

Yes I had the shop shorten the tips to fit. They did a very good job and they installed it for a $100 bucks

Here's a thread I posted when it happened.

First of all, if I were to pay all the tickets/fines, I'd be looking at around $450.
The lawyer only cost me $150. What I'm hoping happens is that the prosecutor doesn't want to waste time having a futile trial and what not (my lawyer is an ex-Houston traffic cop), and offers me some kind of deal. I'd be willing to pay the license plate fine (~$95) if they dismiss the speeding and the bullshit "loud muffler" charges. Come on, how the hell would they be able to prove I have a "loud" muffler. Who's definition of loud would they use? The cop didn't even have a decibel meter. He was just being an ***.

I'll keep y'all updated.

Wow...I my buddy has a '95 Olds C/S with a 3400 swapped in and and done up exhaust(Glass pack and dual Aero Chambers hehe) and his car has a nice smooth unoffensive sound to it. You hear it coming and going but you arent like god that was loud!...Anyways he's coming to vistit big ole' me and he gets pulled over....IN MY DRIVEWAY!!! the whole time I'm in my room getting myself together and I hear his car and after that I hear a WHOOOOOP!!! My father took my Lobster out somewhere and I thought it was him comming back and I figured I'd let him explain himself when he got in. 10 minutes later I get a phone call from my friend who is all boiled over. I Just got a ticket for my window tint!!! And I almost got a ticket for my exhaust! The cop mentioned that his exhaust seemed kinda loud as he kinda got on it, he saw the cop comming to get him so he dropped the hammer to my house.....

Honestly I think people get picked on is not because of exhaust but because of window tint as it aggravates the officers even to this day....Every car I have owned minus my old '90 GrandPrix Turbo, '94 Z28 BigRed, the RedLobster, and the BlackWhale have had dark tint and during that time I always got pulled over for no reason. Now I can drive my Lobster which is VERY loud and the Whale, also now audible, relativley agressivly and not get harrassed by the police.... The last time was involved in a pull over was in my friend's '90 SSE, which had tinted windows. Just driving doing 65 in a 65.... For all you NE'ers I've noticed that I can take the NY17 Quickway at 75 MPH to Binghamton and not get pulled over and that road is littered with Super Troopers....
