Default Love the Car ... Hate the Electronics!

I know I'm one of the guys with the most miles here (42K) on their MCSS. I have been a big fan of this car in general.

But something happened after 40K, the DIC is driving me nuts! First I can't seem to get my new gas cap tight enough, then the fourth of my TPMS is now acting up. And as was covered in a previous post, since I can't seem to tighten my gas cap, the remote start doesn't work.

Not following the logic: gas cap not tight / evap canister broke = no remote start???

What's the best part is that I have to clear all of the damn messages every time I start the car!

Still like the lines and look of the car, but the DIC is a piece of work that should never have been so damn interfering with the functionality of the car.

(Thanks for letting me vent!)

hmmm, wierd... I've got 45k on mine, and no DIC/electronic issues whatsoever... other than having the remote stuff replaced last summer because of poor range...

Frankly, the DIC has nothing to do with it. The CEL/MIL is causing the remote start issues.

Regarding the TPMS errors...you can have the dealer disable the system completely, if you wish. Someone at NAIOA has done it.

Good to know the TPMS waring message can be removed. $80 each / once a year will push me too far.

I think the DIC has good information, I personally can't stand seeing all the warning messages barging into it and not clearing themselves.

Based off the cost of the evap canister replacement, you know if the P0455 can be disabled as well so I can use the remote start? Had the code cleared once, got a new cap, popped it again. CEL was on for 2 - 3 weeks, just had it cleared last weekend. Now I'm not going to remote start because I don't want the dang light on.

Oh don't even get me started with electronic problems on these cars...

Besides all the ones mentioned here,

1. My radio does not play at full volume when the dial is turned all the way up.
2. The EQ doen'rt even change, regardless of where you put the Bass, Mid, and Treble arrows.
3. The passenger seatbelt light will flash and the chime will sound when there is no one in the car, it doesn't flash however when there is somebody in the passenger seat with their seatbelt off.
4. Remote start range sucks....~5 ft for me even after the damn update.
5. My power drive seat quit.
6. Dead batteries and weak turn-overs (sounds like the car barely starts).
7. My Aux input buzzes when there's nothing plugged in.
8. Windshield wipers come on randomly?

That's still a lot of problems for a relatively new car.

1. How do you know your radio isn't at "Full" volume? Does it not sound any different when between 3/4 and full? My problem with my non-bose radio is that their equivalent of 1/2 volume, to me should be no more than 1/4 actual volume. I need it to be at or beyond 1/2 to accomodate for road noise (not including exhaust). This is also related to crappy door seals.

2. For the EQ...do you have BOSE? The Bose system doesn't allow for other settings like the standard MP3 radio does. I've got a few different factory presets plus a manual customization. When i adjust it manually, the EQ curve does change, as does the sound. Could be that your radio is crappy, causing issues #1, 2, and 7.

3. Not sure about the seatbelt issue. Could be BCM related.

4/6. They're likely related. My dying battery adversely affected my remote start range. Since i got the new battery, well after having the updated equipment installed, i've gotten 150-200' while facing the front of the car.

7. How do you get into "AUX" without having anything plugged in? Do you at least have the interface cable in when this happens? That might be the problem.

8. No idea on the wiper issue, though...but sounds like the multifunction (turn signal) switch is going bad. Either that, or your BCM is going bad/needs a reflash and is causing many of your problems...and could possibly cause the power seat issue, too.

Are you still under warranty?

I know what hes talking about by the AUX at least i think i do. When i had my zen hooked up if i just left the cable plugged in and my sterio just turned on it would make some god awfull noises. only did it when using the AUX tho.
