TC button, GXP-center console

My TC button is frozen. Without getting into a long story its stuck. Believe me. It will never function again. My bad...not the cars fault. My question is how difficult is it to remove the center console to replace the TC button. Has anyone removed the center console? I know the gear selector is no big deal. I'm not sure how to remove the heads up selector. I know the center rubber piece will remove but not sure how to remove the rest.
Has anyone removed the center console for any reason? Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Is your car not under warranty anymore or did you do something stupid and spill something in there? If you did, yes you can remove it, but be ready to replace the spring, button and connecting piece that goes with it.
BTW, im sure Goo Gone will help alot.

There are 4 bolts that hold the center console down. Two towards the front (you have to move the front seats back) and two towards the rear (you have to move the seats up), take off the gears selctor **** after you put the car in "D" (this part works better if the car is not running) then you can pull the center console straight up and out of the car. If you have a warrantee then I would let the dealer mess with this, I don't care what you have done to it. I have an 04 Comp G and mine has **** the bed twice on that car. Thankfully I have warrantee on the 06 GXP because I think they are going to be switching center consoles for a dealer trip.![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)

Let your imaginations run wild. It was a wild night. I'm sure you will enjoy this story.
Ritalin version. Stopped to get a soft drink. Hot blonde behind the counter. I got so shook up I didnt notice the ball point pen in the upper cup holder upon my return to the GXP. When I put my soft drink in the lower cup holder it hit the shaft of the pen laying "upright" in the other cup holder and punctured the styrofoam 44 oz big drink. Hydrostatic pressure being as it was forced the liquid to go out from beneath the big 44
up around the bottom cup holder filling it to its brim. When I pulled it out, residual coke, flowed all around and into the TC button. Button no longer worky.
There is more to this story but I aint tellin.

end of pathetic story. The fix for a non functioning traction control button.
GM replacement $30
pry off top of TC button. Carefully pull up the remainder of the TC unit through
hole along with wire. Disconnect old one. Install new one and you are done.
No need for any removal.

Who the **** buys a 44oz drink in a FOAM container!? You're just asking for problems! On a lighter note... Your center counsole popped "wood" over the hot girl behind the counter (pen). I think your car sent a non-verbal message saying " Stay away from this girl!".
If you figure out what part you need PM me the GM part number, i'll get you a good deal.

I don't see how you got the entire TC button out from the top, I'll have to relook at it.
