based on a couple of my estimates (due to GM's habit of keeping overlap about the same on all the LSx cams), I would expect to see about a 20 horse gain with an LS2 cam over the LS4 with peak power coming in at around 6000 RPM. If you want bigger power, which the stock heads would surely support on the small V8, add 8-10 degrees more duration over the LS2, open up the exhaust and start shifting around 6500. Alternately, you could squeeze the LSA down (and opening up the exhaust becomes much more critical with a tighter LSA) to pump up the torque and gain more at the 6000 mark, but you will have a narrower powerband and it will fall off more quickly up top. Would make a very nice bump in the mid-range, which I consider the car's strong point to begin with.

My dyno pretty much supports your estimates. With the cam and everything else, I am sitting at about 285-300 whp depending on the conversion you use.

You have been posting this misconception for a little while now. I don't mean to rail on you...but if you've looked under your hood recently our car is FWD and the engine is mounted longitudinally. This isn't an LS1/2/3/6 where you would see large gains from a long-tube header. We don't have much of any room to increase the size of the header, but the collector pipe in the back and the rear manifold are the proposed weak points. LS4 headers should see a gain of about 15 to 20 horsepower with supporting mods and *maybe* 25-30 for nighthand since he has changed the valve geometry to scavenge more exhaust gases out of the engine via a new cam.

Thanks...I'm tired of the influx of bullshit that people keep posting here recently. Aside from the older members like you, Buff, Kaz, 06SS, liveride, Cub, BADD, SSWS6, deft, live2ride...there is so much bad information and blasphemy being posted that i feel like I have to straighten someone out every post. I find myself refraining from posting more often because I just hate dealing with certain spewing of falsifications.

k&n intake,
mass air flow sensor,
3" exhaust all the way through with dynomax muffler and high flow cat,
zzp shift kit
soon to be more (rockers, springs, tune, etc.)
i've heard f.a.s.t is working on a manifold for these cars, has anyone heard anything?
