6 DISC STEREO mcss XM my stereo supports XM radio but i did not get it from the factory. I call a dealership and they say i have to get aftermarket to hook up antenna to the radio but i know thats not true does anyone know where or how to hook XM to the stock 6disc changer in the 06mcss if it helps its the "8" speaker system
They're right. You do have to go aftermarket to get XM if it didn't come from the factory. The wiring is not there, nor is the tuner or antenna. The wiring is tied into the body wiring, so you'd need to buy that specifically, and it runs $600+ for just the harness.
I was the first to go aftermarket, b/c the dealer promised to add factory XM to the car after I bought it (the other Imps i looked at had XM but didn't have the other options I wanted). They could not deliver, so they bought me an aftermarket tuner and paid for the install and year of service. It was installed in the center console behind the shifter.
After about a year, a company out of Syracuse, NY developed a factory add-on XM kit for the 2006+. It functions 95% the same as OEM, only difference is that you don't get "categories" for some reason. The kit is about $200 and can be found on eBay.
