Default Ordered some Eibach springs

I will be getting Eibachs next Friday and should be installing them the following week. I'm also thinking of getting some 20" wheels to complete the look. The tech at the wheel shop is trying to talk me into 245/35s, but 255/35s are much closer to stock size. Do you guys think I will have clearance issues with 20x8.5" wheels, 255s, and Eibachs?

I think that if you are going to lower it, go with the 245 tire.

I've got eibach's on my GXP and 20x8.5's with 255/35/20's. No matter which size tire you use, you will have to roll the rear quarter panels. So go with the 255's. The 245's look like rubber bands on 20x8.5's (I know, I test fitted some first).

Hey Rob where did you find eibachs that fit our GXP's?? The eibach website doesn't have the GXP listing.

Ya I was wondering about that. I'm already having issues on the passenger side rear wheelwell when I have several passengers and we go over a bump or something, and I have stock rims/tires. And I agree that 245s look small because I had some previously some and they are at least 1/2" shorter than the stock 235/50/18s.

BTW nice GXP!

Yeah, go with the 255s. If you take your time, rolling the fenders is easy.

Make sure you use the heat gun. Your paint will thank you.

I just used the one's for the '04-'07 GTP. Vehicles are almost the same weight.

FWIW, I've had them on the car for almost a year now, and they ride and handle great. No bounce, no vibration.

Please explain where a heat gun is used. I've never rolled fenderwell lips before but I thought all the needed was gonna be a hammer.

You need to warm the paint before bending it or it will crack and flake off at the fold. If you painted a piece of paper and then folded it, you'd see what I mean.

If you have someone heat the paint while you roll the fender it will work much better, and be easier overall.

Default Any slower...

Car seem any slower with the weight of the 20s? also, I am thinking of adding the shift kit to my GXP, and they did not recommend 20s with the shift kit. What kind of wheels?

Those are the AR Killer's (or Earnhardt's...can't remember specifically, or if they're even different). nice wheels...saw them at CGP.

Yeah, do tell about the before and after with the springs & 20s combo. I'd love to go lower, but don't want it to make the ride quality much worse than it already is, or will be with the 20s installed.

Also, how did it affect performance, as dj asked above?

EDIT: Yup...Dale Jr. Killers: http://www.americanracing.com/browse_dale_killer.asp

Believe it or not, I honestly couldn't tell ANY difference in the ride by going from the factory wheels & tires, to the 20's with 255-35-20 Kumho's. When I changed the springs, it was only SLIGHTLY more firm than stock, and oddly enough, no "bounce" at all. Some people with GTP's experience a slight shaking under acceleration with eibach's, but mine is perfect. Just like stock under acceleration.

If anything, I think performance is better with the 20's. When I 1st put them on, the car was stock. With the stock BFG's, it would blow the tires off from a dead stop. But with the Kumho's and 20's, it would only spin maybe 10ft.

Since then, I've modded it a bit, and it won't hook at all. No matter what. On the dyno it made 310whp/383wtq, and even from 35-40mph, it'll spin into the next lane. I just recently put on a new set of Yokohama WS4's (same size), and they won't hook either. No better or worse than the Kumho's from what I can tell in this cold weather.

I'm gettin' kinda old now, and I don't really like a harsh/firm ride anymore. That being said, I LOVE the way my GXP rides and handles with the current setup.

Hope that helps.

Oops...missed this question! I don't understand why they say "no 20's" with a shift kit. I tuned my car and I've got the shifts set up just slightly firmer than stock at cruise speeds. But at WOT, I'm throwing the line pressure at it and it shifts pretty hard (very comparable to a shift kit). Been that way for about a year now, with the 20's and all. Haven't noticed any downside. So I'm cornfused...
