At least in the Monte the cup holders don't hold ****.
I am lucky I haven't spilled anything into the Shifter yet.
How are they in the Impy and GXP?
My 05 Monte LS had these ruber inserts that worked very well.
Has anyone found an insert for theirs? I can't find anything.

LOL
Just remembered a Story.
When I had my 05 Monte LS I spilled a can of beer into the Shifter.
The shifter had a sticky feeling when shifting after that and the car smelled like a brewery for a while.
Don't worry I wasn't driving when it happen nor I drove after.
We were on vacation and my bro in law was visting we had little cabin with one room so me and the wife got busy in the car. Thats how the beer got spilled. I think I kicked it.
I do not promote drinking and driving or fornicating and driving.
Even though road head can be fun.

if you put a big cup in the back one and theres nothing in the front one it tends to fall forward i almost dumped a huge amount of coke down into it. Now if i do food runs i make sure someone holds the cokes

my monte has 2 holders. a smaller one and slightly bigger one. I have found that a combo meal pepsi from taco bell fits very nicely in the front holder. I agree though as for soda cans and such they dont hold ****. But i lean on my center console with my right arm so i just hold it.

Hmm, then they are different. In the Imp it's a larger open space. And then theres a divider that comes out if you want to use it as a cup holder so you could hold 2 cups then and you can move it smaller or bigger on one side depending on the cup size.

the 07's and 08's are the same, but deeper so they can actually keep cups from falling out. i wonder if something is wrong with the arm of your cupholder, though? the arm in mine pretty much stays put wherever i put it.
by the way, there is a way to buy the deeper cupholder and replace the shallow one with that.

ta-da! here is an article from NAIOA detailing the cupholder upgrade (in case the link doesn't work, go to articles on the top->06-08 -> deep cupholder upgrade
you do have to register though, but the site is good and worth the time.
edit: oh, and you just need the new cupholder and a screwdriver, from what i can tell ( i still need to do this mod)

We covered the MCSS / ImpSS console in another thread.
The MCSS has bolstered seats and the thinner console. The front holds "car cups" and 20 oz Dew bottles, the back holds 32 oz Slurpees.

The new cupholder for the Imp skyrocketed to nearly $50. It used to be $14 when it first came out. I'm pissed that I never jumped on that. Stupid performance upgrades! What's the use when you can't accelerate w/o spilling you coffee all over the damn place.

That is one of the first things I complained about when I got the MCSS. I posted a thread and there are some photos of both cars in this thread.

I'm not sure of the GXP. Hope this helps.
