Idealy it would be right where the cross member comes from the fender to the radiator core support. Make it work right with the cross member and you'd be in business!

Hm.. I imagine I'd need just a flat piece of tempered ABS plastic, correct? Along with a bit of minor cutting?

Just use cardboard for a pattern. Put it on the engine side of the crossmember and shove it all the way down, until it cant go any farther.. Do what you need to do as far as cutting/trimming to get it to fit and put a hole in it so that the filter/piping can run through it. Make a slot/hole for the 3 wire connectors if your car has them...

Intense sells 3 feet of exact size piping you'll need. I have mine in the fender and there is a little inlet there for the fresh air to come in. I used a stainless steel mesh filter instead. That needs no oil so you do not have to worry about over oiling the filter. Some of the oil residue may get on the MAF wires and cause ses lights or possible bad shifting. I would try cleaning the MAF with some alchohol and a q-tip. Be gentle though... I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, there is no such cutout in the fender of the SS's, so he would need to shove it down behind the headlight. Is there room for that? After all the times I've yanked the headlights for my mods, I can't believe I never thought to check out that possibility. I guess having the K&N already makes that less of a priority.

Yeah, that's what I was looking at thismorning. There's literally *no* room. I was trying to see if I could duct it down and under the radiator fans, as there's a small opening, but it won't fit. Either way, I managed to order just the firewall from the K&N CAI. Should be here after a while.
