2700 miles and it is in service for trans issues

That sucks, wonder what the problem could be. You'd think at 2700 miles nothing could really be worn out yet. There is a TSB out for the 2nd gear clutch causing slipping/ shuddering at light to moderate throttle, maybe have them look into that.

Well, at 240 mile my trans went nuts. It was shifting rough and the "check engine" liight came on. After a long diagnostic, it turned out to be a frayed wire shorting itself on the outside of the transmission.

Paul,
sorry to hear about your 07... Makes you wonder how the hell your 06 never gave you any problems. Maybe ask the dealership if they still have it and have them replace your trans with the one from your 06?

since its affecting all gears it's most likely somthing is wrong with the VB. Could be somthing clogging up a passage or a bad piece of electronics. Looks like yours is comming out too..

I'm in the same boat-- my '07 SS has 9700 miles, and I have taken it in at least four times for tranny issues. In my case it's an issue of a noise and vibration with minor wheel shake that ramps way up at 45 MPH, levels off, then it picks up volume from 90 MPH onward. It is not dyno tune related either, as this was going on before the tune and to me it sounds like a bearing going bad about 6" to the left of the car's centerline. At any rate, the dealer has said it is a tire issue and has tried four wheel alignments on their Fred Flinstone machine ("Thag use rock, make wheel move!!"), inspected the suspension three times, replaced one rim, replaced the intermediate shaft, consulted a ouija board, driven the car at over 100 MPH on the freeway at my behest, and sacrificed a goat to read its entrails all in an effort to isolate the problem. I finally bought a set of 17" OEM rims/tires off of a fellow board member here, had those rebalanced by someone else, and had a 4-wheel alignment done again this time on a Hunter machine JUST SO I can go back to the dealer and say, "Sorry guys, but as I've been saying all along, it's not a tire issue."
Why don't service advisors listen to car guys like us who know WTF they're talking about?? After spending all day listening to dimwits and MILFs in their Suburbans and Tahoes try to ask for a simple oil change ("My husband says I need to have the oil thingee replaced...") you'd think guys like us would be a breath of fresh air to them.
Just call me "Cactus", 'cause I can get miiiiighty prickly.

If it disintegrated than thats a problem with the pack itself or the fluid....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Condition
Some customers may comment on a 1-2 shift shudder at light to moderate acceleration. Typically, the throttle plate angle parameter is 12-20% at time of condition with vehicle speed of approximately 24-40 km/h (15-25 mph). The customer may describe the condition as slip or delayed shift into second.
Correction
Replace the complete second clutch assembly with service kit, P/N 24240561. Refer to the GM Unit Repair Service Manual for the year and model of the vehicle being serviced for the 2nd Clutch service procedure.
This service kit contains: Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings (613), a Second Clutch Assembly (617), a Case Cover (Channel Plate) Upper Gasket (430), and a Case Cover (Channel Plate) Lower Gasket (429). In addition to the content of this service kit, four other gaskets not included in this service kit will also be needed to complete the repair, a Control Valve Body Cover (Side Cover) Gasket (54), a Control Valve Body Cover (Side Cover) Inner Gasket (59), a Case Cover Lower Gasket (429), and a Case Cover Upper Gasket (430). These gaskets can be obtained by ordering service kit P/Ns 24206959 and 24206391.
Be sure to use ONLY the Second Clutch Assembly and Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings provided in this service kit. DISCARD the Second Clutch Assembly and Second Clutch Housing Fluid Seal Rings removed from the transmission being serviced.
Disassemble ONLY the Oil Pump Assembly from the Case Cover (Complete). DO NOT disassemble the Control Valve Body from the Case Cover. Remove ONLY the Case Cover-to-Case bolts to remove the Case Cover and Valve Body from Transmission Case AS AN ASSEMBLY . To access all Case Cover-to-Case bolts, it is necessary to remove the Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Assembly (322), and 1-2 & 3-4 Shift Solenoid Valve Assemblies (315A, 315B).
Important: This service kit does not contain the gaskets and/or seals necessary to service the Case Cover and Control Valve Body, if they are disassembled from each other. Please review the graphic above for Pump Body-to-Case (230), Pump Cover-to-Case (231), Control Valve Body-to-Case (377), Manual Shift Detent Assembly-to-Case (805), and Case Cover-to-Case (433, 434, 435, 436, 374, 379, 380, 384) bolt locations.
Notice: Failure to use the parts in the service kit as instructed will cause improper function, and possible transmission distress.

Thanks for the tech info, Paul. I'm going to use this to get my issues looked at closely. Does this happen ALL the time, or can it be a sporadic issue? I can't replicate it on demand, but it happens nonetheless.
