Default Displacement on demand info?

Hello everyone.I'm a newbie about to purchase either a GXP or SS. I'm leaning toward the SS seeing as how I'm currently driving a GTP. Anyhow, my question is wether of not DOD can be tuned out. If so which aftermarket tuning device would be best for accomplishing this task. Thanks in advance for any info.

DoD can be tuned out on MCSS, IMP SS, and GXP. There is no performance gain for shutting it off though. You will lose fuel economy and it doesn't engage under part to full throttle anyways. With the way gas prices are, I'll take all that I can get. HP Tuners is your best bet. Do a search on HP tuners on this forum. That should tell you what you need to know.

Some that have disabled it have reported no major loss in fuel economy. I'm sure they'll chime in with exactly what they get, I know it's been mentioned before in other threads.

I disabled it and dialed in my fueling/tune and my mileage went up from about 18 to 20.6mpg...

Lew, I don't know how you have done that.

With it disabled using Diablo 93 no DOD tune and adjusting trims I've been getting 17.5 (real not DIC) on 93 oct. With stock tune, 87 oct I've been (llast three tanks) at 20.3 - 21.1 measured in same type of driving.

I gas up at the same place on level ground until it's just about to overflow out of the neck. I run the tank low and have added about 15.8 to 16.5 gals at fill up.

I only have 15K on the clock, but the several times I"ve gone back and forth with the tunes has resulted close to the same difference. I'll keep the DOD. Just with DS would get the TCM stuff resolved, but I'm sure I'll hit the lottery before and then won't care cause my new ride will be a Z-06.

I'm looking at 06-07 in the GXP or SS. Scouting the prices out there I really see no need to buy new. I got a beed on an 06 GXP with 26,000 mi on it for $14999. My buddy is the used car sales manager at a local Pontiac dealership.

With how these cars lose value you'd be better off looking at a used 06-07. I've seen 07 SS's for $20k makes me wish I would have just gotten a used one.

Default First Mods?

I have a few bucks socked away for my first stage of mods and I was wondering if the performance gain was worth getting a custom set of headers made. I have a couple of exhaust guys not to far from me who'll make the headers & install my whole set up for a seemingly reasonable price.

Sorry guys I made a mistake and posted this thread here instead of creating a new one. Bear with me

bdyman; Diablo is of extremely limited 'value' on the LS4 cars. Pick one of the other options. TML529 Hit me up on some info on the headers
