I have to imagine the Monte's have a little bit of a mileage advantage to begin with, considering they are a few hundred pounds lighter than the Impala and the GP GXP.

Are you looking at the DIC or calculating it yourself?

I would imagine the K&N intake along with a good tune could boost the highway mpgs a couple miles per gallon. After getting the LTFT's in line, a lot of ppl using the diablo tuner have reported an increase in mileage. So although tranny support for diablo is out of the question, at least you can squeeze out a couple more mpg's. The catback and downpipe may also help a little, anything that is less restrictive on the engine will take less work to get it from point A to point B.

Hmmm, no response yet, must be: Tornado, Fuel Line Magnets, and BS

Either that or running so lean in open loop that the pistons are burning.

Thats using the DIC and calculating myself. I got 30.5 miles a gallon with the hi flow cat, the magnalfow exhaust, the CAI, and the res delete, after I got it diable tuned and dyno tuned it went up to 32 and I just put in a poly motor mount and put in a tbs and its around 33. Also I use synthetic oil in the motor and transmission which does make a difference.

You are probably looking at the instant econ. The DIC is accurate but depending on how you use it. If you drive 1000 miles non stop and reset your DIC before the trip. Then that would be a accurate "Highway miles per tank average" If your going down hill and you let off the gas you will get 99mpg and its accurate because for those moments you are getting 99 mpg.

So using this new information i think all roads should be down hill! Don't ask how we are going to return tho i havn't figured that out :X

I won't be able to keep my foot out of the gas once I get exhaust/other engine mods done. I'll like to hear the exhaust too much to not be on the gas. Kinda defeats the purpose of doing engine mods in the first place IMO. With the warmer weather I'm up to 14-15 mpg city. I'll get my first real highway test in months in 2 weeks so I'll see what I can get then.

If you are getting 33 mpg, then more power to you, but I am pretty sure you aren't. Big V8s are not capable of that kind of sustained fuel economy with our 4 speed transmission. Even with mpg enhancing mods.

Unless you spend all your time driving downhill, then that might explain it. LOL

50,000 miles / never reset DIC / 18.7 lifetime avg

I like the engine, and like to pass minivans and SUV's that can't afford their gas bill around here.

Z28SS gets 28 on highway; MCSS never gets more than 22 - 23. Pig *** nose doesn't help aero. I need to look for the COD #'s on the Monte.

That 6 speed is helping you on your Z28... We should have more than a 4 speed buy GM is a little behind...

how fast do you normally drive though?

my drive to work is "downhill" almost the entire way (35 miles), when traffic is actually moving the whole way i can keep up a good pace in 4 cyl and stay around 28-30

the drive home however lucky if i get about 14
