difficulty in actually installing one. I believe the two done both had to drop the entire cradle to get the room needed. The scuttlebutt is also that getting the PCM to fuel correctly for a new cam is a real problem as well. There is a thread with a dyno for an LS4 Fiero that looks like the valve springs are going into float before even the tiny stock cam runs out of steam. I would for sure upgrade the springs and extend the shift points to see if that gets you where you want to be before trying to swap a cam in.

Unless GM put different valve springs on your car than on everybody else's, no. I don't think the springs that show float starting around 5300 RPM with a stock cam and rockers are gonna do real well with a larger camshaft.

why do you want a camshaft change? What does the car do now that you wish to change? From your questions, it seems obvious that you are not well versed in cam theory or the mechanics involved in doing such a swap. Nothing wrong with either, however you would be doing yourself a great favor if you get a real book or two on camshaft's (I would recommend David Vizard's series on small block Chevy's. He has a book specifically on camshafts and, while the examples are slightly out of date, the theory is sound) before you start spending time and money on something you may not be happy with because of unexpected trade-off's. You are not going to learn what you need to know by firing off random questions on the web. Learn first, then you will know what questions you need to ask.

Just go with the 1.8 rocker arms, springs and push rods. The cam in our cars is really good with a nice rocker arm setup.

screw the rockers they are fine, but you will be hungry for more, a cam is well worth it IMO, Im sure any LSX series camshaft will work, They work on other GM LSx's with no tuning required but a tune will help optimize everything

The LS4 DOD is the unloved step-child of the LSX series, you are incorrect in your unfounded assertion that any LSX cam will work, the DOD system requires different sized cam lobes on half the cylinders.

While an LSX cam may work ok, GM spec'd the different lobes for a reason.
