Stealth Mode WTF?

So my GXP has a 3rd mode on the heads up display called Stealth mode. It basically turns off the dash lights (except for the lights on the climate control and radio).

Why would anyone want this feature? I don't get any eye strain from the dash light, but some might I suppose.

i wish mine would let me dim my lights to where they turn off. The more light in your car the smaller your pupils will be and wont allow you to see as well in the dark.

Turn it to the right and it will shut all your other lights off!!!

They get really dark but they don't turn off.

for night time driving its just easier on the eyes and it still maintains the HUD

I use this all the time at night. I normally blackout the entire cabin, turning off all the lights on the central console and stuff with the dimmer **** as well. It really does improve night vision and reduce eye strain late at night. Plus watching my girlfriend fumble around trying to find her drink is good fun. She also likes it because she likes to sleep on late night road trips, so a full blackout makes it easier for her.

The downside is I've been pulled over twice by cops who saw me driving with the entire cabin blacked out. Not sure exactly what they were going to ticket me for, but I had to explain / demostrate the HUD to them and all that stuff.
