50-70 is good with my GXP. For my sweet spot I normally lock the cruise on in the 65 mph area and get 27 or so.

I honestly have no idea. Never run with the cruise at that speed to have used up a decent amount og gas and run the numbers. My DIC shows 22-24 mpg in that range, but the DIC isn't entirely reliable, so take that with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't buy the car based on the AFM. I mean it does help, but I could have cared less when I got my car. At 70 I get mid to upper 20's from what I remember. I don't do much highway driving except for the summer months. I'll be going away this weekend I'll try and remember to report back on how I do around that speed. But as mentioned above, take the DIC readings with a grain of salt. They appear to be pretty accurate, but it's not always spot on.

sure can, once you get up to speed just keep enough pressure on the pedal to keep the car at speed and you will usually be in 4 cyl, whether in town or on the highway; also coasting will keep you in 4 and you can usually give it a little more gas from a coast without switching to 8. if you are an aggressive driver or moving with aggressive traffic then you will never be in 4 cyl

This is definitely true. I've mastered the art of 4 cyl mode. "Off the line" I can usually get it to kick in under light acceleration at around 25mph and keep it in cyl mode all the way up to my final cruising speed. The key to keeping it in 4cyl mode is to slightly lay off the gas after a gear shift...particularly on the 3-4 shift....then slowly lay back into it. It's just something you'll have to experiment with....just know that you WILL need to adjust the throttle accordingly to keep it from popping into 8 under acceleration.

Also...once you start hitting around 80-85, the car can have trouble staying in 4 cyl mode....but I found a trick to it. If you find your car swapping back into 8 under high speeds, just click your cruise control speed down by 1mph, and voila, it sticks in 4 cyl mode. I've also found that it stays in 4cyl mode more easily a high speeds without the diablosport tune.

And around 50-55 mph, I've seen between 30-40 mpg depending on road imperfections, etc. I got like 32mpg in the florida keys where you can't really go much higher than 60-65 on the highway. It's a beautiful thing really. I get my cake and eat it too if I drive with brains....my nuts (my other brains), however, are usually functioning behind the wheel of this car and prefers to keep it in v8 mode though...lol. It's a good thing I carpool with my roommate to work! For the most part, this car is a weekend car. Pretty soon I'll have no more roommate and will be daily driving an 80mpg dual sport bike (Yamaha TW200) to work everyday...thats gonna be fun!

One other thing is I've heard that the Magnaflow exhaust kit makes it real easy to tell when the car is in 4 and when it is in 8 cylinder modes. The exhaust noise changes noticably.

So if you plan on modifying your exhausts that may help you since you'll be able to hear the car clicking out of 4 cylinder mode.

I wonder if this gizmo really saves any gas at all on those cars.

I haven't used the DOD in 2+ years... I disabled it... and my lifetime avg. mpg is 20.5 - 21...

that's with 50/50 city/highway driving to/from work, and local running around on weekends...

when I first bought the car (brand new in 2005) and DID use the DOD for the first year, my average was 18.5-19 with the same driving habits...

That is really good to hear. I will have to change over my tune for No DOD with HP and see how it works.

You should really give it another shot. A lot can happen to the car within the first year...particularly those few first miles. I get a good 1-3 mpg increase with DOD.

thats weird.....when i was coming home today on the highway i was at 65 and i was getting 28-30mpg on the highway.....when i bumped it up to 75 it dropped to around 24-26.

im going to try to see how many miles i can get from a tank of gas soon....with coasting and drafting i bet i can get it up to above a 30mpg average....i will post pics when i do this.

I draft whenever possible and get 34 mpg at 55/65. Also remember that coasting saves gas, everytime you hit the brakes you're losing the momentum your gas made.
