Default Getting Dyno tuned by Vince at Trifecta

Well, the title says it all and if all goes well then I'll be meeting Vince on Tuesday to get Dyno tuned. I will post the results when we get this car done. Right now I'm pretty much all stock. I live close to Pacific raceways In Kent Wa (4miles away) so I'm going to run it down the track again real soon!
My PB was a 13.96@98.5 last year and this year i'm stuck in 14.2's@99.8 with 2.2-2.4 60ft's! I think the flipped motor mount is causing my tires to get shocked and lose grip, plus the TMS keeps kicking in (power off of the line after a little wheel spin just cuts out and then back in!) the only other mod that I have done is a 3" down pipe.
Vince seems like a pretty cool guy and is very knowlagable. He was Mr. Johnny on the spot when it came to answering my questions!

David,
I spoke to Vince at lenth today about getting my Monte tuned and he talked about how you wanted to know if he could tune you today or asap. I cant wait to see the numbers your car puts out as I am 110% sold on Vince to tune my Monte Via his GT tuner.

I only put down 238.77hp with 273.70tq stock.(Dyno jet) My car was extremely hot due to fighting traffic to meet Vince, plus it was hot in the shop. For some reason my engine was running super lean from 3200-6000rpm at about 13.8:1 and at some points over 14:1 at WOT??? Vince made the necessary adjustments and got it down to 12.2:1. Once he adjusted the timing he put down 254.11hp and 275.19tq. For a gain of 15.34hp and 1.49tq. Peak numbers aren't everything the curves are, and above 4500rpm everything on the chart became much more smoother.
Vince also adjusted the torque management, the anti score protection, the 2nd to 3rd shift points, shift firmness and gave me a custom tune in M (tap shift mode) It seems as if us GXP owners have a lot more options in tap shift mode and yes the trans is a lot more aggressive in M! Vince also adjusted my fans and I can now rev my engine in park or neutral to 6200rpm.
Driving home was like driving a whole new car, the shifts are much more firmer and snappier. Everything just feels so different and man this thing builds massive speed after shifting into 2nd. In fact second almost feels like first all over again, but super smooth.

I will scan my dyno sheet and post it later. I will keep track of fuel mileage and head out to the track next week. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I highly recommend Vince's services.

Cool man sounds like he woke up your car quite a bit! Good luck at the track. I'm sure 13.xx at 100+ mph is acheivable with a good 60'. You GXP guys don't use tap shift at the track do you?

Some cooling info and tips. Random notes.

I have 19,000 miles and over 20 hard driven 1/4 mile passes (trans is holding up great!) I stomp on it a least 4 times a day and use tap shift all of the time. I'm not here to brag. My trans temp is usually 165 on the way to work in the mornings and at 215 to 225 coming home in traffic. When the trans fluid gets that hot my shifts become very rough and I can feel a one to second shutter. Sometimes I'll hear a clunk. Engine temp is over the half mark too. Way to hot.
I had my engine dyno tuned and had the trans shift points raised and the line pressure increased. The fans also come on a lot quicker and this car is now bad ***! My engine temp has not gotten any where near the half way mark and my trans temp has not gotten over 185. My shifts feel much more precise and firm, no more slipping shifts. We all know that a hot engine makes a hot trans and hot everything equals a loss in power and reliability. While I was getting dyno tuned my first run showed massive KR and a very lean fuel ratio. Too much heat and in 70 degree weather! I feel bad for all of you down south with a stock tune. I don't think that my trans would still be working in that kind of heat. I believe that heat is whats is killing our 4t65e's. Get a tune, a trans cooler, wrap up you crossover pipe, install a 180 T-stat and run a 1 to 2 step colder spark plug. Get rid of the heat!

I will agree with everything but the 1 or 2* colder plugs. These cars are not Supercharged, hinst there is not a need for colder plugs. You will not get the kind of KR* with a car that is NA vs Supercharged, therefore your pistions are fine.

I am really glad you got this tune done and now its posted on the website. I wouldve like to see maybe alittle more TQ added, but since all you have is a downpipe, then the added parts I have should make up for that.

My only other problem is that the weather here in Indiana changes season so we are hot right now through Oct, then it will cool off and then get cold, for winter. I will talk to Vince this week about my order and the things needed to do for this tune, but thank you for doing this and posting what you have gotten, as some of the other people who are looking for a solid tune now can use yours and should have some great results.

Taz you should be makng a lot more TQ then me. I put down 275 to the wheels in 3rd. and thats with just a down pipe. 275 is a good number but if I was able to show you the graph then you would be able to see more then just peak numbers. After 4500RPM I made like 8-12ft lbs more all the way up to redline! I'm shifting at 5900 but I think I can use 6100 now. Thats if the springs can take it. 275 is about 335 to 350 at the engine right with a 18 to 20% drive train loss?

well, im not sure, but once i get the tune, I will make sure to get the car on the dyno

Its hard to say, 20% of your 275 is only 55HP, which only would about 335HP. Thats ******* awesome vs stock.

I did see the dyno graf on the website and it does show more HP and TQ the longer you went.

It can definitely void the warranty on your engine or transmission...if they notice it. IDK how deep the dig to see if their tune has been edited or replaced, but if they find it and you're complaining about eng/trans issues, that's reason enough to nix the repair at that time.
