What are you guys running for tires?
My 06 Impala has a little over 33,000km on it now, and it has pretty much munched through the factory RS-A's.
I am looking at buying 245/45-18's Michelin PS2's for all 4 corners very soon, just wondering if there might be a better choice out there.
Just as the title said I am just wondering what you all are running for tires and what kind of success you've had with them. I am not expecting miracles, but I'd like to see an improvement from what I have right now.
I bought a cheap G-force meter from Canadian Tire a while ago and (so these times are to be taken with a grain of salt, but... ) my 60' time is running around 2.25sec right now. It showed my best 0-60 of 5.58sec and my 2 best 1/4 mile runs as 14.12 @ 98.7mph and 14.15@ 100.3mph. Car is bone stock right now, and those runs were with just me in it and less then a 1/4 tank of gas. Should be reasonable to see some time shave off there with new tires.
I'll add to, that 60' time came from a 2000rpm brake torque launch and it was almost completely free of wheel spin, just a quick chirp as I left the line, and another quick chirp as I finally put the pedal to the floor.

I have a buddy of mine that swears by the Goodyear Eagle F1 - 235/50ZR18. He has them on his Impala and says the tire is awesome in all aspects. I have Good Years on my 07 Monte SS and I'm due to get a new set myself. Hearing him rant about these tires almost has me sold. They are a little steep for the pocket but I guess the name "Good Year" says it all. I'm sure there are thousands of other suggestions out there. Good luck though!!

I've heard that a lot of GXP guys are having trouble with the F1's. I have Kuhmo Ecsta SPT's on my 20s and love them. A guy at NAIOA just bought Vredestein (sp?) tires and said they were great...and cheap.

ya over on clubgp allot of guys having trouble with the goodyear f1`s, i have them on my car since the end off janurary and not one problem, no vibration, alittle bit of noise, but the tire has carbon fiber and kevlar reienforced
traction is awesome, on dry and wet pavment, in the snow alittle bit of tire spin but 10x`s better then stock
i paid 800 for them from tire rack, not to bad to me worth every penny

20500 miles and you are already throught the stock tires? I have almost double that on my Impy and figured they will last until next Winter when I am at around 55K miles. I certainly don't baby the car.

My stockers now have 56K on them, I slip in our S-curves with the slightest hint of morning dew on the road, but they have GREAT dry traction!
Wear bars aren't showing yet.

The only thing the RSA tires are good for is this.
Making a tree swing for your kids.
Worst tire ever made IMHO... And thats coming from 3 different years of Monte Carlo Cars, 02, 04 and 07... All were replaced within 2000-3000 miles.

The rental Maxima I have right now runs RSA's too. 245/45R18's. Not enough torque in the 3.5L & the CVT to chirp the tires or lose traction, but overall I think the tires are fine for THIS car...just not mine. I had it up to 120 last night on the way home from my game and they handled well. This car handles very well, for the most part.
Maybe it's not just the RSA's...could be the sloppy handling of the SS and the RSA's that make it seem so bad..

The MCSS doesn't handle bad for a big car with an upright seating position. I pushed my car up an on-ramp on my Indy trip, tires held well and made my bro **** his pants (Z28SS driver); tires squeeled w/ plenty of warning.
I'm planning the sway bar work this month, just looked at the end-links on the rear bar, gonna need to find some beefier units to get rid of the *** wagging.
Just don't want to mess to bad with the ride quality; since this car has no real BSR's.

No, it's the tires. Had a brand new set on my 9c1 when I got it from the State and while they wore great for 60K miles, they were flat out crummy for traction from day one. The el cheapo Coopers I replaced them with were waaay better.
