Gxp Shaker Hood Scoop
#21
Good eye! The vents have been modernized ... the 70's and early 80's were not good years for automotive design, especially domestic. Maybe theres a handful (subjective) of 70's and 80's cars worth remembering / collecting.

yeah i used the same maifold pegs that the engine cover snaps on it does not shake as much as i wanted but i like it. the back of the scoop is open it just helps get some fresh air in there. im suprised nobody likes it thats interesitng haha! well as long as you guys dont live in the twin cities you wont have to see it! the picture is kinda bad ther scoop is not round its got the traditional pontiac line going down the middle. anyway thanks for the imput!

Thanks, I'm kind of a fan of old Pontiacs. The ones before the red guages and about 100 buttons all over the dash and console.

yeah i kinda figured the shaker wouldnt really shake but i always wanted one so i did it. ill paint the hood eventually for now im kinda digging on the ratty primer there is just something about it i like. function wise with my headlight intake installed the shaker keeps the transmission about 15-20 degrees cooler which is kinda nice, the headlight does not do it alone so it must allow a good ammount of air passage in and out. as far as what i put on the scoop ill probably go with 326 since thats what the pontiacs of that era were fitted with and i think putting gxp on it would be kinda redundant.

I applaud your effort for trying something new and unique. As with most anything new and different with appearance on this site, most everyone will poo poo it b/c they hate change or whatever other reason. I actually think the scoop looks halfway decent and will set your car apart from the thousands of others just like it.

Keep up with the uniqueness looks better than anyone elses project!

Yea know what would look good is a heat extractor in the cowl hood as shown in Buffs post bout 4 back, twords the center mayby 3-4 inset cuts. If anyone can do a fotochop, do it, lets see what it would do!

ya know i like it, he is being different then buying "custom" in a box, as far as the rattle can primer better get it off fast, it is not a catalyised primer, so it will fade/ crack/ chip/ and not prtect nothing underneath it
use ppg`s ncp 271 it s a high build corrosin resistant primer, thats the primer you want, it would take yrs for any type of catalyised primer to move fade, crack or fail,
rattle can=THE DEVIL!!!

This. But it's your car and you do what you want to make it yours. Now when you pop your hood people will be twisting their heads like "I thought it had rwd".
