Trade my v6 bird for a GXP?
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
You honestly cant understand what he's saying? It makes clear sense to me..
----------------------------------------------------------
What I've learned so far from this thread:
- No GXP's have V8's
- The GXP's are supercharged V6's.
- The 05 GTO had a LS1
- The G8 GXP is going to be the first GXP to be a V8
... This thread sucks because of people saying stuff and not knowing what they are talking about...
HOW ******* STUPID IS THIS GUY???OK, I am going to give you a little help here and then go back to enjoy my new toy.
Grand Prix came in a GTP Trim with only a L67 motor till 2003 and in 2004-05 a L32 Supercharged V6 ONLY! All of these were the 3800 Gen 1, 2 and then 3
Grand Prix in 2005 also got a body trim of GXP which came with a LS4 V8.
****, I leave this board for awhile and all these dumb ***** come on here?
and to the rest, wow i feel like im on mustang forums where no one knows what the hell kinda cars they or others have. as a gm driver and performance fan i like to kno what the gm competition is out there. anyways thanks to those who kno what the hell theyre talking about. How much were these things new because i think their holding their own on the market most around high 18k. i might buy an older gtp because they are proven no offense to you ls4 guys. with the l67 i have the almighty reliable 3800 a trans that i kno personally can take hard driving (ex female) plus i think i can expect better economy at a cheaper buying price..just kick this tire around for now i still have my ls6 magnacharger build to finish

There are many smart LS1 owners, and also many that dont know too much about them... But from what I've seen in this thread, there are many dumb members in the LS4 section, but then again there are some that know what they are talking about here.
I didnt come here to start ****. I like the GP GXP. But if you dont know what the **** you're talking about, dont post **** up! Why give people false info?
.. It works wonders. Your TA is sexy, but I'd have to agree that you won't get much for it...especially with V8 sales & resale down the tubes. Keep it as a toy and make the GP your DD.
EDIT: And after reading page 2 of this thread...it appears that you have a 12s V8 and another V6? Sure...ditch the V6 for whatever you can get for it.
EDIT2: And Taz...stay gone. It ain't gettin' any better

Did these people ever stop to think why the GXP owners have a section on the LS engines forum. We must have the only LS series V6
wait....you mean my GXP is supposed to have a v8???????
my engine says volvo....
Actually I get better MPG than most of the GTPs in my club. In part it depends on how you drive. I normally am the cruise control on, crank the tunes and get comfy kind of guy so I benefit greatly from the DoD and have gotten 27 mpg on long road trips. My DIC is showing my average MPG to be 21 right now, but I've done a lot of highway recently to get it up there (average speed is 67). Other GXP owners with lead feet are down in the 18 mpg or so. The unmodded GTPs I know seem to rack up mid to high teens depending on how hard they get driven.
A second issue with GTPs, at least out my way, it is getting hard to find a GTP that hasn't been heavily modded and beaten on. I hear a lot of bitching from GTP owners who want a second GTP as a DD that they can't find anything good. Once you start modding a GTP they start having trannie problems too and it goes down hill from there.
Your best bet would be a N/A GP with the 3800 engine in it if you want to go that route.
Used GP GXPs are getting cheap. My friend picked his up a 2006 with 17k on it about eight months ago for 20,500 from a used car lot. I'd imagine with gas prices going up these things have only gotten cheaper.
As a final note, the GXP is light years ahead of regular GPs in terms of handling, We have far superior suspension and cornering compared to the GTPs I've driven.
(As a side note I think Impala SSs with the LS4 cost even less than a GXP does used)
