Default valley cover

i'm looking to buy the new weiand intake pretty soon and will need to change to an ls6 valley cover to fit the new intake. if i do that will that throw any codes and cause the engine light to come out?

You'll most likely get a few DOD error codes, just have to turn those off in the tune at the same time you disable DOD.

You might want to consider plugging the oil passages that were used to send oil to the DOD lifters.

Gee, I wonder how many more months until that manifold is actually available to the public?

Ha!

Maybe it's time to take a break from rust repairs on the Fiero's frame and work on the GXP again. I actually uncrated the Magnaflow catback yesterday and took a look at all the shiny new pieces.

I've got some vacation coming up in a couple of weeks, so that might be a good time to tackle the valve springs/rockers and exhaust.

I take it you are referring to the 90mm size. I'd agree with that, 90 is more than these engines can really use. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to make an adapter for our TB.

Notice that it also has the MAP sensor and brake booster fitting on the rear, won't fit on the LS4 since the power steering resevoir interferes with that (unless someone can figure out how to remote mount the resevoir).

if you change to the ls6 valley cover it will work. and they have an adapter plate that you can use 78mm throttle body

Yeah, it will work, but I believe their adapter is for the three bolt, cable-operated throttle body, which doesn't do much for our 4-bolt unit. A couple of hours, some aluminum stock and basic shop tools will let you build an adapter for our TB's.

Then you still have to deal with the clearance issue with the power steering.

Not trying to be a "wet blanket", just bringing up issues that need to be dealt with.

There is a guy on the Gen 3 & 4 boards here that ports throttlebodies and intakes. He just did a LS4 for some guy. He usually nets 20 hp on the dyno when he ports LS1, 2, 3, 6's. I am sure the LS4 will be extremely close to those numbers and he charges 3 or 4 hundred bucks to port both. 20hp for 3 or 4 hundred bucks isn't bad at all. Eventually I will get an extra set for myself and have those ported.
