Have you seen some of those videos of people abusing rentals? If you get a really good warranty maybe. Is it a gm certified used? What year?

I did a ebay for grand prix gxp and theres a 06 for 15 somethin with 13k miles.

Don't get the rental. I'll bet it has only had 3 oil changes. Most of those companies change oil ever 6000 to 7500 miles. Nearly every one of the rentals I've had smelled of smoke and had cigarette burns.

Now that was funny! Personally, I never had a rental that was any fun. I think you just convinced him to fly 700 miles to get the other car. I rest my case.

A large number of GXPs have had their trannies go somewhere in the 30k to 40k range. Personally I'd worry that the rental GXP has been dogged so many times that trannie is sure to go. So if you go with the high mileage one get the extended warranty.

Also I wouldn't pay over 17k for it, but that varies by region a little.

Yes, thats a good deal, the warranty does cover the trans, engine, electrical etc. I have a 2007 Monte Carlo SS, it was a rental car from florida, owned by a corporation that allowed their visiting business clients to use the car when they were in town.

I paid $18,900 for it and it had 16,838 miles on it, and bought the GM 4 year 40,000 mile warranty for $1 dollar more a month. It has new BFGoodrich G-Force tires, and new wheels. The car is great, and i love my purchase. Ask the dealer to get a carfax report for you if you are still worried.

The overall deal is pretty good too, plus like they said the trans is covered, with my warranty i get $157 dollars toward a car rental for any repair over 2 hours long. So look over the warranty and get that carfax report, then buy it, takes pictures, and post some up here so we can see it!!
