Damn Aaron you have a lot of mods on that car. Looks like Roller Rockers should be the next mod.

So, how did the car respond after the port jobs? Thanks.

it came out real nice, turns out our intakes have some serious restrictions, I really feel it in the higher rmps, pulls really hard from 60 to 120, and I plan on doing the roller rockers and new springs soon. As far as gains....I'm not sure but given how restricted it was I'd say prob 10-15 fwh

I am considering this as well. Also, how hard was the install? Do you have any other things to say about it? Also, did the Fitch fuel catalyst help at all? I'm looking at a similar mod route to yours. I want to stay as fuel efficient as possible, but I'd love to run an all motor 12.9 on street tires. I have a built trans, looser stall, a FWI, a silicone intakes elbow in the mail and a box of Scorpion 1.8 rockers uninstalled. I'm planning on a 3" exhaust (DP back) , the Fitch, a tune and maybe that intake/TB mod. Probably still won't be there in the GXP, but I'll be closer than I am now. Anyhow, any extra info you can provide would be great.
Thanks,
BJ

Cool

Need more info on the porting technique. What area of the TB and manifold should I concentrate on? I don't want to ruin the velocity of the air flow by over porting and making the runners to large. Everything will start to happen to far upstairs. I want a street car and not a track car. I'm building a '86 Trans Am for the track with 500+ HP small block, 8' TC, 5.37:1 Rear and an ATI 350 Turbo Tranny manually shifted.

Also, where did you get the Poly mount? I just had this GXP for two weeks. I'm trying to get done what I can before the holidays and then I'm going to have to shelve it until next spring or my wife will make me homeless.

Show me a little love, why don't ya?

You can always flip the stock one in the meantime. I went that route instead.

Should I still use the stamped steel bracket? It just looks flimsy to me. That's the old machinist talking. By the way, do you want to adopt me? I'm a good eater. That way I can afford all of this stuff. Don't mind me.

Despite being flimsy the stamped steel should get the job done.

Maybe during the winter months I'll make a custom bracket in the shop. Make it look trick or something like that.

Thanks for the info.

eventually i want to get that new weiand intake for ls engines. i'd need a 4 bolt throttle body wouldn't i? so porting my current tb wouldn't do any good when i got that weiand would it? and eventually they'll make headers i would think within the next year so i wouldn't wanna speed $300 on porting my stock exhaust manifold when the shorties come out should be less than 500

Hey aaron

you seem to know very well our cars,
i've got a few question for you
what would be the best thing to do to my cars
for now, i have an k&n filter, stiffier spring in the transmission accumulator
cutted exhaust line before the mufflers
I have the Hp tuner programor and i will play with the setting by the next week.
The redline is now at 6500rpm, this little v8 seem to push it all the way

I've seen an big improvement of the speed of changing gears with the new springs.

by the way have you went to the track?
last year i ran an 13.6@103.8x only with the K&N
2.35 60 feet
any dynoed????? wich one, mustang, jet.............

it seems to be your next step should be new valve springs, pushrods and roller rockers, I see your redline is at 6500, your going to end up bending a pushrod or something worse unless you upgrade those items, also I would suggest flipping your motor mount or buying one from http://www.3800performance.com/Merch...roduct_Count=0 it works real nice, you only need one thou, and yes my car was dynoed on a jet dyno about a year ago when it only had a tune, a cai and a magnaflow exhaust, which was actually a different monty, it was totalled and I just got this black one that has more mods, my dyno is on here, I believe the post is dyno tune

6500 rpm's? The LS1 springs that come with our heads are only good for 6300 rpm's. If I were you with stock stuff, I wouldn't spin the motor past 6200 rpm's. Aaron is right; you need to upgrade your valvetrain components before going to 6500 rpm's.

BTW - A weiand intake without any modifications will NOT fit these cars. Porting the stock intake and TB will give you at least 15 to 20 hp. (Excellent deal for $400.00, IMO) Headers? Don't count on it. ZZP will port our stock exhaust manifolds if you ship them yours first. You should notice a good 10hp or so with that alone.... Good luck with whatever you decide.
