But, to extent they're right. No matter what car you have there will be SOME that want to mod it. Like I said the majority of LS4 cars I see are driven by old people with no desire to mod them. And, to an extent, we're to blame for lack of certain parts. Look at the header situation. Numerous times people tried to get the ball rolling. Lots of people wanted to complain(me not being one of them) that there are no headers, but when someone says okay Company X will make headers but needs X amount of people up front then no one wants to do it. If someone doesn't step up and put their money where there mouth is you're always going to have dick for aftermarket if everyone just sits around waiting for someone else to make it.

As is the only LS4 cars left now are the Imp and Lacrosse. Both of which are cars that will end up being modded less than the GXP's and MCSS's, so the situation isn't going to get that much better IMO. I give credit to Cartuning for developing the turbo kit regardless of how many people actually end up purchasing it, that was atleast one huge step for our aftermarket. The only brightside to me is the fact that this is a nice motor that may gain more popularity for engine swaps so the aftermarket might catch on to that. There have been several Fiero swaps already so who knows what else people might be throwing LS4's into. Of course, that's just my 2 cents.

So......you want performance part manufacturers to make parts for the LS4, this is an LS4 forum, get everyone here to go old school.

Draft up a letter asking performance parts maker x,y, and z to make some parts for our vehicles. Then have everyone sign it....

Might make them stand up and take notice...you never know!!

it is a fight for parts...

Think we could ever set up a blower on these cars?? probably have to be roots type, and then the accessory drive gets even more complex....

i know i didnt get into the 3800 stuff until well after its prime but how long did it take for that aftermarket support to really build to the point its at today? certainly the first two or three years were slow going?

And the 3800 has been around forever. That engine was around in some form or another since atleast the 80's. And it was in a hell of alot more cars. You can't really compare the LS4 to the 3800.

looking back it seems to me it didnt really get good until the 3800 Series II, and even then a ton of em were in w-body cars? some f-bodys, and whatever the bonneville/park avenue are

i thought the small block in its various forms was around forever too

As I recall, when the Charger's first re-emerged, the R/T was an extra cost option with a slightly different exhaust system running the Hemi from 340 to 350 horsepower (along with a rather intense two-tone paint job). There are plenty of non-R/T Hemi Charger's running around.

I believe you're thinking of the Road and Track package. Not to be confused with the normal R/T trim level. The road and track package gave the R/T the extra 10 hp along with a couple other add ons. Normal R/T's had the 340hp. So there's a normal R/T, then you can get an R/T with Road and Track pacakge. Which is confusing. I'm 99% positive that this is correct. The Hemi wasn't available in the lower trim levels the SE and SXT. It is confusing having the R/T as an actual trim level and then the Road and Track package as an add on to the R/T.

Well yea obviously the small block has been around forever. But the LS4 can't even come close to the production levels of the 3800 engines, nor will it. It's really an apples and oranges comparison. You're looking at cars where a small number produced actually used the LS4 whereas with the 3800 those cars the majority of them got it. Even the f-bodys half of the f-bodys sold were V6's. As I said, as much as everyone wants to think it is, the demand just isnt there for the companies to really want to invest in making parts for us.
