Recommenations on In-dash DVD/Navigation

Recommenations on In-dash DVD/Navigation Looking to make this a little easy on my self with people who have already tryed some models out there. Looking for a indash DVD/Navigation. The navigation part is more important to me. Right now i have a garmin NUVI 550 or so and works very well so in comparison that is what i'm looking for. Also does anyone know what our stocks stereo's watts RMS and peak for the 8 speaker system for the MCSS. I think the rear amp only does the rear speakers and it is 100 watts ? Price i'm looking for btw is around 1k

You can also go the Car Pc/Laptop route. Like Myself.
Even though Nowadays the head units available will do a lot of the stuff that car PC can do. but I like thinkering with my **** a lot so it works for me. I have had the same set up for 3.5 years, have had it in 3 different Montes. All I do is upgrade the GPS and front end software I use and it keeps on going.

Hey Chris, I think I mentioned it long time ago when I joined first but not in my own thread.
The set up is a 7" touch screen Monted on the dash with a ProClip mount.
It is running off of an old HP laptop normally located under the driver seat. I power both through the 12v source in the back. I could hard wire them to a contoler board that shuts off and turns on everything when turning the key but I chose not to since I dont use the rig all the time. The sound goes through a USB Sound Blaster That plugs into the AUX input in stock head unit.
GPS Software I use Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008
Music/Video I use Road Runner Front end. It can do a lot more like cell phone, gps, Sat radio and you can make your own skins and tweak it any way you want it is open source.

I have the Alpine IVAW205 set up in mine. Granted the Navigation unit is a "docking" style, so you do have to purchase both units (ie Alpine's BlackBird Series) but the fit is superb. Furthermore, it still retains full use of all of your sterring wheel controls. Additionally, it has the rear mounted camera capabilities as well as Ipod compatibility
