I'm selling my hptuners serial interface. This is the upgraded serial version with EIO. ("pro" serial version- the pre-usb unit) This is the added feature that allows you to plug in other devices such as widebands, boost gauges, etc, and connect them to the tuner and log them on your pc.
This unit is licensed for all 2000 Fbodies. Make a few bucks by tuning your buddies' cars! It does not have any additional "credits", however you can purchase licenses for additional years from HP Tuners website for $199.
You can also upgrade it to the newer MPVI USB Pro version for $199.
This comes with the OBDII cable, HPTuners interface box, serial cable, USB to serial adaptor and software. I will transfer over my account at hp tuners to the buyer so they can receive suopport or upgrade in the future.
$325 shipped

Hello,
The new usb units use the credit system. The serial versions like this one were licensed a little differenlty. This is licensed for all 2000 fbody's.
If you would like to use it in yours, I would definitely get the unit with my 2000 ECM. It is a definite improvement over the 98. You can use the hptuners to read the settings from yours and compare them to the 2000 fbody settings (I'll flash mine back to stock).
The other option is to purchase this unit, upgrade it to the new usb pro unit for $199, and buy 2 credits for $50 each and you could use it on your 98 ECM. This would have to be done before the end of Septemeber as HP tuners is not upgrading the serial versions after that.
At this time, It's definitley a better deal if you just wanted to use it with a 2000 ECM. If I don't sell it soon, I'll send it to hptuners to be upgraded to the usb pro version. If i sell it after that, the price will be adjusted accordingly.
Thanks.

Fuzzy math....let me see if I have this right, 300 for your unit...199 to upgrade....100 for extra credits to be able to tune my 02, or any other year equals ummmm 599..
or new unit for 499 with 8 credits, I pick the year for all tunes for 6 credits, 2 left over to tune another year, or tune 4 different cars.......is that about right?

As I mentioned, the most value would be if you had a 2000 fbody. You would not have to purchase anything else and would get pro, enhanced iO functionaly as well. The math in your example was partially incorrect however as you are comparing a Pro unit to a standard unit's pricing.
My price for $300 includes my 2000 ecm to go with so it is just plug and play. This unit is also a pro serial unit. The $199 upgrade would get you the pro usb unit which goes for $649, not the $499 price in your example.
Correct example:
My unit as is: Serial Pro hptuners licensed for ALL 2000 Fbody ls1's + 2000 Fbody ECM = $300 -- lots of value that you wouldn't be able to buy now for the price
My unit upgraded to the USB pro version: USB pro Hptuners licensed for all 2000 fbody ls1's + My 2000 ECM = $300 from me + $199 to Hptuners= $499 -- Same functionality as above + built in datalogging from the usb pro unit and additional upgrade functionality in the future.
A new USB pro unit licensed for all 2000 Fbody's: $649 from hptuners with 8 credits. -6 to license all fbody's like mine has = $649 -- you'll have 2 credits left at this point.
As you can see, even if you did upgrade my unit to the pro, you would be at $499. You could then add two credits for $50 each and still be at $599. You would then still be $50 less than a new one. My unit also comes with an ecm at this price. If you don't want the ECM, I'll take off another $50 so it would be only $250.. Now it would be $100 less than a new, comparably licensed unit.
As will all used hptuners, the units have already been licensed for someone else's needs. When you purchase it, you weigh the value of existing licensing and the price.
I hope this clarification helps.

Okay, I think I have it...couple of more questions, when HP tuners upgrades the unit, you lose no functionality at all...none, keep everything you have now, licenses, tunes etc.....
Also will the 2000 ECM you have interchange with my 2002 ECM, pin wise, program wise, can I put my tune in the 2000 ECM and put it in my Nova, etc....direct plug and play.

Correct.. When you send in the unit to HP tuners to upgrade to the new USB Pro unit, they will send you the new unit back with the exact licensing this one has.. all 2000 v8 fbody's. All of the tunes you create are software files and are stored on your pc, so you won't loose any of those.
As far as pinouts, doing a 2000 ecm swap to a 2002 ecm swap.... I have compared the pinouts. They appear to be identical. The only thing is that the 2000 has active pins for the EGR system that your wiring harness doesn't use. (you'll have deactivated the egr in hptuners anyway).

HP support of the serial interfaces will end after 9/30/2009 from what i have been reading.
so it seems that if you want to buy anymore credits for anything other than a 2000 f-body you will HAVE to upgrade for the199 and then the 100 for each credit.
just putting this info out there, but unless you do the upgrades then your system as its sold right now is good for 2000 fbodys only after they stop support for the serial interface.
