What's the right thing to do???
i would discuss the issue over the phone and ask the buyer if he would want to ship them back and receive a refund, discuss the shipping and see if he or she would perfer to eat the shipping charges for shipping it back or split the charges. as a buyer i would perfer to discuss the product i was buying over the phone to find out if there were any defects that aren't noticable in pictures before i buy a product, being that i know the parts are used. pictures will tell you so much. if the seller isn't honest about it then i see getting a full refund but if its discussed prior, then the buyer should be happy with there purchase. something used is never good as something new imho and you shouldn't expect the product to be in perfect condition.
I have sent the buyer an email asking what he would like to do and we'll go from there. here is what my post said. I didn't note anything on condition and figured the pics would speak for themselves. I sold these valve covers for about half of what they cost me. Original post:
First deal fell through. I have a set of tall sheetmetal valve covers for sale. They are powdercoated red. $225 shipped

Just my opinion.

exactly
he bought what you showed him. you did not try to hide it (the back of that VC showed the dent clear as day). tell him to take a hammer and beat it out.
Was the seller wrong for honestly forgetting to disclose the dents? Sure was. However, as already stated the dents were clear as day. I could certainly put myself in the buyer's shoes. I'd be kicking myself for not asking a simple question after looking at the pics.
Just like I do on ebay, wait and see what the buyer wants to resolve the issue. If it's not anything too unreasonable, then comply with him/her. If they want a full refund and keep the valve covers, tell them to go scratch!!! Both parties involved made mistakes, and as such, both parties should give in a little. That would be the fair and honest way to do things. In my personal opinion, as has been stated by snake eater, he bought used parts and can not expect them to be in new condition.
