Well After visiting 3 dealerships in search of what I could find out. I found out that yes Z06 rims did have stampings, but they had engravings as well. I know that is confusing. but here goes nothing. Well I went onto a couple of Vette sites including z06vette.com(sorry for the endorsment). and in 2001 the first year that the Z06's came out. they were a darker gray, and the spokes were more square than the 2002 and up.

there is a link to a couple of pictures of that post as well. also in 2001 GM had Alcoa make the rims and they were forged. they also used the funny etching that I refered too. Now in 2002 GM Had the rims made by Speedline which were spuncast and had the GM stamp that is on the backside of the rim. I appologise for my ignorance. I had never seen those marking before and that is why I had questioned the authenticity. That is why I went it to such detail with this post. Thanks To Lupe he sent the rims out and was a great seller. no issues with the shipment all rims got here and I was sent a shipping number right away with no questions asked. Once again GM did have different markings on the Z06 rims the 2001's have markings totally different from the 2002's and up models. Thanks for you time and thanks to nine ball for helping me in looking at the Z06 site for further indepth information.
Thanks
Wesley

I'll ask him about the difference as well.

What is your email address. I have the pics I cant get them small enough to get on the site. haha. thanks for your patients and understanding with the situation. everyone I have spoken too has only seen the 2k2 or newer rims. So when I found these to be true rims, I educated everyone I have spoked to about this situation. b/c everyone thought the same way I was. but I wanted to research first.
thanks
Wesley

The forged Alcoa is probably a better wheel than the cast Speedline, lighter and stronger. In addition, IMO, I prefer the look and the colour of the '01's. Glad you guys frigured this out, I was ready to jump in your thread before I got to "page 2"!

Correction, the '02 to '04 are actually a little lighter, sorry...
