Don't ever buy anything off this guy. He said it was a rebuildable core and had a slight rake going in and out of 2nd gear. Well here is the report back from D&D Performance:
Countershaft 500
1st gear 159
1-2 slider 159
Input shaft 300
R.Slider 159
Synchro kit 219
Shift fork 59
3-4 dogs 99
In/output seals 17
Bearing kit 159 = $1830 in parts alone +350 labor=$2180 Btw a new transmission is $2100. I asked him to just give me $100 to pay for the teardown at D&D and he refused. Oh yeah, D&D said it had gear oil in it instead of Dextron 3! D&D said there is no way in hell he could of not known something was terribly wrong with the transmission. I even called him 3 way to let D&D tell him.

well, first off you left positive feedback then a month and half you turn around and bitch.you looked at trans, trans had never been apart and never had gear oil in it.i still have the rear mat from the trunk of grand am i delivered it in and the trans fluid is pink from spillage.dude,i never had trans apart.even the D&D trans tech said on three way calling i could have never known this.he said it should have made a gear whine but possible it could not have.when i sold input and output shaft turned smoothly with no binding or noise, granted this is a crude way of testing but i didnt know of any other method.i think $700 for rebuildable t56 swap was very reasonable.now,i have rebuilt about 20 of these trans but dont claim to be an expert on them, but i was under the impression that you were to send to t56rebuilds.com at least that is what you told me,but d&d know their **** too.i have over thousands of local sales and 200 sales on ebay with 100% feedback.never an unsatisfied customer except now.there are a couple more people that i sold to on here and they were very satisfied with purchase, but i guess i just singled you out!Good luck brian with your impala,i hope you build it the way you hoped.if the trans and it had never been apart,i would given you a full refund.but i have no way of knowing if it is the same trans or internals i sold you.By the way,how is $100 going to help you?

I am swapping the Six speed in my 96 Impala. I bought the transmission, put it in my garage where it set for almost a month then took it to D&D. Yeah I left positive feedback on good faith that the transmission was in rebuildable shape. But when you have to replace every major component in the transmission and it adds up to be more than the price of a new one?????? BTW what about the gear oil in the tranny? I guess D&D sabotoged it. No wait it was me! "if the trans and it had never been apart,i would given you a full refund.but i have no way of knowing if it is the same trans or internals i sold you." Are you kidding me? Like I am going to spend $700 on a transmission, take it to D&D and spend $100 for them to tear it down, then just ask you for $100 instead of the full $700 I just lost! Doesn't sound like a very profitable hustle to me! I asked you for $100 so it wouldn't be a total loss for me. That is the least you could do after I take it to an authorized Tremec dealer and find out the condition of your product. Hek, I would have accepted paying any amount under the price of a new one! And lets get the story straight, D&D said it should of made a hell of a noise contrary to you saying it having a slight rake in and out of 2nd gear. "when i sold input and output shaft turned smoothly with no binding or noise" D&D said it could spin for now but not much longer.

no,the guy said it should have made a whine, but he also said it was possible it could not have.Brian,i am truely sorry. There was honestly no way i had of knowing this, the car only had a rake when we drove it.the kid i got it from has been following the story and he will tell you the same.It did have alot of miles, around 110k when extracted from car.granted i didnt take it apart but i felt no need to and really did not have the time.the stuff i did not buy from D&D is the gear fluid and countershaft.i seen the fluid from the trans and also pointed it out to you it was pink, what kind of gear lube is pink?if countershaft was bad seems it wound rotate rough when input shaft was turned.the guy from D&D also said the trans was possibly disassembled at one time.Well i have been around that car from day one and he never had the trans gone through,he replaced with a new unit from gm.i tried to get him to get a unit from t56rebuilds or another reputable company or have it rebuilt but he chose the big money route.i have had several t56 trannies do the same **** that particular unit did and it was no more than a bad shift fork and synchro, not denying the D&D claim but i would have to witness the teardown myself because the trans only had a ******* rake, not a whine but a rake, and it was a slight rake at that. And by the way,did you think a rebuild was only going to cost you under $500?if so you better start buying new **** instead of used.i was here to rip you off i would have never replied to this or answered your phone calls, but i answered every one didnt i?i was as helpful as day one and will be for all my customers.if i was going to rip someone off why would i want you to inspect it first?

D&D has no reason to falsify a claim concerning a teardown, they make FAR too much money to risk on any sort of payoff. If they say its fucked, I'd tend to believe them.

Find a way to sort this out so that both of you are satisfied.

i would almost agree, but i know the trans and the car it came out of.the tech guy i spoke with said it should have mae a whine but it was possible it could not have also.then there is the gear lube thing, like i said i still have the rear mat from the grand am i transported it with and thetrans leaked pink fluid all over the place.

Funny, I just left D&D today and looked at the carnage and the gear oil in the transmission. Just like Cyphur said they make far too much money and have a great rep to try and screw me out of my transmission when they literally have hundreds of them laying around. The bottom line is you said it was a rebuildable core when the only thing is good is the case. I brought it to a Tremec dealer not some jackleg on the street and you wont even try to make good on the deal. All I asked for was $100 when you made $700 on a worthless transmission.

I will gladly get one from D&D in the morning. I can have them email it to you if you give me your email address. I will also post that you made good on the deal. I also apologize for any harm done. I just wanted you to attempt to rectify the situation.
